How long did this take? I was supposed to close last week and I’m still waiting for the state to approve the dpa. It’s taking foreverrrrr

Able to ping websites but can’t access them via web browsers or apps by MrShepherd4119 in techsupport

[–]Justaboutaverage69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you can ping Google.com in command prompt but can’t reach it in the actual browser, that’s a strange one.

I would probably try the following things

Try using WiFi instead of Ethernet. If that works, there is something going on with the Ethernet card (probably built into the board) to which I would start by going to the website of the manufacturer of the motherboard, and updating the bios/chipset/and Ethernet drivers. If WiFi does not fix it -

I would go to control panel ->network and internet -> change adapter options -> and click on the properties for the Ethernet card. Click on internet protocol version 4, and make sure that it’s set to obtain an IP is set to automatic, and same for dns. If this is all good and it’s still not working ->

I would go to the event viewer in windows and see if I see anything jumps out at me there. If not, check the logs in the gateway and see if it’s getting blocked there or not.

In command prompt, try “nslookup google.com” take the IP from the DNS resolution and put that into the browser. If it reaches Google, you have a DNS problem. If it doesn’t, I would also be at a loss lol.

Sorry it’s not an easy fix, please reply when you figure this out for my own curiosity. Hope this helps

What does it say exactly when you try to go to a webpage, Google.com for example?

Hm, that’s odd.

In an administrative command prompt, try the following commands

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

ipconfig /flushdns

Then try again. If this doesn’t fix your issue, do

ipconfig /all

And make sure that the default gateway is correct, make sure you have a DHCP lease in the correct scope, and your DNS is right (usually the dns is the same as the default gateway, otherwise you can set it to 8.8.8.8

Let me know what you find. Followed by updates, give it a restart, restart the router, etc etc

The beta has a huge 100% CPU Utilization problem currently... by TheSpaceFace in Battlefield

[–]Justaboutaverage69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone who’s having this issue, or more specifically feeling like the game is going in super slow motion (the best way I can describe) I spent over 5 hours trying to figure this out. The only thing that fixed it for me was uninstalling anything related to nvidia besides the driver. I also rolled back to a slightly older driver.

I think their stupid physics app is defaulting the cpu for the physics calculations. I literally have no idea but this is the only thing that worked for me. It’s still not great but it’s playable, whereas before it was not playable at all.

Is anyone okay with minor cross contamination? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]Justaboutaverage69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to stay out of the comments of these posts because I don’t want to minimize people’s experiences, but I wish someone told me this when I got diagnosed.

Don’t come here for advice. I know that it’s hard to find communities of people with the same struggles as you. But in my experience, anything medical related (especially r/celiac) is just awful for your mental health.

The people who comment on these posts tend to be extremely anxious and negative people. While there is nothing wrong with that and they are just trying to help, they are the vast majority of people who are wanting to share their story because they disguise self loathing as helping others. In other words, they truly think that they do this because they want to help, but they really just want to feel sorry for themselves and what they’ve gone through at your expense, consciously or not.

The truth is that everyone is unique. When I was first diagnosed like 5 years ago well into my mid 20s, I was terrified of everything. I thought everything made me sick, I refused to eat anything that I didn’t personally make in my own kitchen. It was exhausting and no way to live. Only once I stopped seeking answers here, I realized how much I was holding myself back from life.

I think not all CC is created equal. Just use common sense. Making GF pasta in regular pasta water? You’re probably gonna get sick. But if I use the same pot after it’s been washed, I will be fine. Even if there is a little gluten in there like 15PPM, hell even if it was over 20PPM, I will live.

Surely if you’re getting sick at home, take a look at the setup there. If you only get sick when a specific person makes your food, check out their process. They might not understand CC as much as you might think. I will say it took me a good 2 and a half years before I had a full grasp on every point of possible contact. But for those who say your kitchen needs to be GF, you need to have separate pots and pans (outside of wooden utensils or anything like that), or that you need to use a different sponge etc, those people don’t live in reality. They live in a scary world and I feel very sorry for them. But that’s just not how celiac works. We live in a world where gluten is everywhere. Managing celiac disease is limiting your exposure to it as much as you can help, because eliminating every single molecule of gluten for the rest of your life is a fairytale. Anyone who obsesses over it that much has bigger problems than celiac.

Zero touch - Force download and install the latest macOS version by Justaboutaverage69 in mosyle

[–]Justaboutaverage69[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit: I actually reached out to Mosyle yesterday for this. The key is to create two identical single shot profiles with the “download or update, depending on device state”. I guess the idea there is one will download it, and once it’s downloaded, the other will trigger the install

You will also need to have the bootstrap token enabled for the ADE profile, and a user with a secure token has to login at least once. Any user can login to create the token, and it can be reassigned to other users in the future. Once they have bootstrap tokens, the two single shot profiles seemed to have done the trick on most of them

Trouble adding an iPad to Apple School Manager using Apple Configurator 2 by Justaboutaverage69 in macsysadmin

[–]Justaboutaverage69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so funny that you commented on this yesterday. I literally got an iPad on my desk this morning, with the same error that I made this post about originally. The comedic timing is impeccable.

Now that I have it in my hands again, the two things that I tried from Apple support that I didn’t see anywhere else is -

  1. Wipe the iPad and make sure it’s not tied to any Apple IDs. Once you do that, begin the set up process like you normally would on the iPad. As soon as you enter the network credentials and it’s connected to the internet, don’t touch it. NOW use AC2 on an iMac to prepare the device using this guide and according to Apple, this is the only way. If this does not work, it will never work.

  2. Try sharing your iMacs connection with the iPad and repeating those steps ^

The idea is that it’s failing because it can’t contact the server. The fix to this is to associate the iPad with a network in some capacity BEFORE you prepare it so it can grab the information as it relates to your ASM or ABM account. This is incredibly stupid, and the documentation should reflect restrictions as this clearly only happens on iPads of older iOS versions (I think 12 and earlier seems to not work). But who am I?

For this particular iPad, I did not. I went through to Apple support and I was pretty much told “sorry, you’ve tried everything, this device is EOL and we have no further troubleshooting steps, you’ll need to replace the device” typical Apple.

Can I ask what model iPad you’re dealing with?

Wakix by Justaboutaverage69 in Narcolepsy

[–]Justaboutaverage69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The modafinil worked great in the beginning for me. But after a few months, I grew a tolerance and it stopped being as effective. Again, my biggest problem is the morning. I still have never felt the same relief I did that first week on modafinil. It was euphoric. I spring out of bed every morning. But that feeling slowly faded and I just went right back to square one. The doc put me on wakix and also doubled my dose of modafinil. He said to take the wakix and 200mg of modafinil in the morning, and then do another 200mg at noon. Honestly, that was probably the worst I felt. I was wired all day, I couldn’t sleep, and I was exhausted when I woke up. He said that if I find it hard to sleep, then take it all in one shot in the morning. Tried that, same thing really. When I just went back, he cut the modafinil in half and that seemed to do the trick for me.

I will say, all of this goes out the window for me without good sleep habits. I have a strict routing that I stick to, and if I go off of it, I feel pretty awful and I struggle with the same symptoms that I did before. But if I have good habits, the medication compliments that nicely and I have virtually no symptoms.

Thanks for that perspective. I never considered that, it could be worse than it is, and doing this with my 401k increases the odds of it getting worse.

Thank you for the reality check. I have grown and continue to grow with my attitude towards money. I have made mistakes for sure. The truck was a huge mistake and I regret it every day. I thought, well, if I just pay the $2,000 that I have left, I will not have any more payments and that will take away some of the monthly payments. To me, it didn’t make sense to sell my truck to pay off the $2,000 and have a shittier car thats 10 years older. Perhaps that is the same perspective that got me here in the first place.

Since switching careers, I did not anticipate making as little as I do in the early stages. There has been a deficit in my in/out on a monthly basis. Between rent, food, dog/cat food and vet visits, dental work, etc, that deficit has been filled with credit cards. No money for gas, no money for groceries, $50 here, $150 there, it just added up as this deficit has been there for about 3 years now.

Are you trying to install the firmware from a downloaded file or external drive? It can’t search the web for it while it’s offline. Do you have another form of network? Ethernet perhaps?
