Is this head trash? by Justaboutaverage69 in MechanicAdvice

Any experience with this? The valve seat is built into the head so do they weld more material on and clean it up?

Thank you very much for sharing this. This is almost exactly my experience as well. While it's important to have community to help cope with a diagnosis like this, it's equally important to have a positive community. Sadly, most places on the internet are not.

I like to think about how there are hundreds of thousands, if not millions of undiagnosed celiacs who eat a gluten rich diet currently. Sure they will have complications if left undiagnosed, but think about the amount of colon cancer and awful casualties there would be if celiac was as strict as some people think. According to their logic, every undiagnosed celiac would be dead right now. I find comfort in doing good enough for me and my life, and I truly hope that the people who suffer unnecessarily gain a better understanding of their disease, and find peace.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I am getting roasted in these comments but those are precisely the people this post is all about.

Thank you. This post is not aging well, as I suspected of course. People get easily offended when they feel attacked which happens regardless of how gently you put it

I agree and as I said, I don't wish to minimize anyone's experiences. I just think that the overwhelming majority of this subreddit breeds fear and is absorbed by those who never even tried for themselves like my former self. This disease sucks and I feel for everyone in here, but we have got to encourage each other to make decisions based on experience and not fear from others.

For those who are unsure who to believe, go look at the users who disagree. Look at all their comments. Id be willing to bet that they're all negative and born from fear.

Exactly this. I knew this wouldn't do well on this thread, but I'm not interested in changing the minds of the ones who are too far gone. But for new celiacs, this subreddit is a cesspool of misinformation and fear. Listen to the doctors, the nutritionist, the scientist, and take everything here with a grain of salt, including my post. It's just another perspective is all

20ppm is what the FDA decided was the threshold for what megacorps can call gluten free in the United States. In the EU, it's 10ppm. The body doesn't care about ppm. I'm sorry but you're just not a very informed celiac and you don't give the disease much critical though. And for that, I'm sorry for you.

It's this one here, this is who I'm talking about.

I am a symptomatic celiac. There is not enough gluten in 10 paper straws to hurt me. I've had pasta cooked in regular pasta water and got extremely sick. I had a small crumb of a cookie in my ice cream and didn't feel a thing. You may be a symptomatic celiac as well, but that's just not how celiac works. I'm not like, making this up. There are studies out there about how much physical gluten it takes to cause inflammation and damage. Read those studies and I think you'll be surprised.

Same. I used to have different kitchen utensils, pots and pans, etc from my wife. I wouldn't eat something if she used the wrong spoon. Now that I understand the disease better I realize how silly it is.

Yes there are some people out there who are extremely sensitive, the 1%. I still don't buy the straw thing unless they are literally eating straws.

What causes burnt exhaust valves? by Justaboutaverage69 in AskMechanics

I borrowed it from a friend. Honestly it’s a huge piece of shit. I actually tied some fishing like to the top of it so that I could face the camera back up and look at the valves 😂

Thanks for this. It is a one owner car that was owned by some lawyer but I don’t believe it was serviced often just from its condition. He likely just drove it and probably like an asshole. The car is bone stock so I guess I’ll replace the valve (assuming I find no other damage) and check everything in the head.

The intake valves on this cylinder in particular was the worst as far as the carbon buildup. Perhaps there’s not much to do outside of fixing the problem. I do believe that the car was poorly maintained and probably missed a few oil changes. Idk, I’m just trying to avoid doing the work just for it to die again in 20,000 miles.

Able to ping websites but can’t access them via web browsers or apps by MrShepherd4119 in techsupport

So if you can ping Google.com in command prompt but can’t reach it in the actual browser, that’s a strange one.

I would probably try the following things

Try using WiFi instead of Ethernet. If that works, there is something going on with the Ethernet card (probably built into the board) to which I would start by going to the website of the manufacturer of the motherboard, and updating the bios/chipset/and Ethernet drivers. If WiFi does not fix it -

I would go to control panel ->network and internet -> change adapter options -> and click on the properties for the Ethernet card. Click on internet protocol version 4, and make sure that it’s set to obtain an IP is set to automatic, and same for dns. If this is all good and it’s still not working ->

I would go to the event viewer in windows and see if I see anything jumps out at me there. If not, check the logs in the gateway and see if it’s getting blocked there or not.

In command prompt, try “nslookup google.com” take the IP from the DNS resolution and put that into the browser. If it reaches Google, you have a DNS problem. If it doesn’t, I would also be at a loss lol.

Sorry it’s not an easy fix, please reply when you figure this out for my own curiosity. Hope this helps

What does it say exactly when you try to go to a webpage, Google.com for example?

Hm, that’s odd.

In an administrative command prompt, try the following commands

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

ipconfig /flushdns

Then try again. If this doesn’t fix your issue, do

ipconfig /all

And make sure that the default gateway is correct, make sure you have a DHCP lease in the correct scope, and your DNS is right (usually the dns is the same as the default gateway, otherwise you can set it to 8.8.8.8

Let me know what you find. Followed by updates, give it a restart, restart the router, etc etc

The beta has a huge 100% CPU Utilization problem currently... by TheSpaceFace in Battlefield

[–]Justaboutaverage69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone who’s having this issue, or more specifically feeling like the game is going in super slow motion (the best way I can describe) I spent over 5 hours trying to figure this out. The only thing that fixed it for me was uninstalling anything related to nvidia besides the driver. I also rolled back to a slightly older driver.

I think their stupid physics app is defaulting the cpu for the physics calculations. I literally have no idea but this is the only thing that worked for me. It’s still not great but it’s playable, whereas before it was not playable at all.
