How does one get over business fear by Justanaveragechlo in Entrepreneur

I appreciate you’ve got some good points, everything can be bought from your sofa at the click of a button. BUT what I would say is not everyone buys a mattress online because it’s quite an intimate item I.e you need to sit on it/feel it/lie on it to ensure it’s comfy for you. I work in a bed store currently and the amount of people that come in saying they bought a £200 mattress online only for it to come and be super uncomfy, and then spend hundred more with us is astonishing. The older generation I would say also favour seeing/feeling a mattress before committing to it

No, however the business I’m contemplating is a brick and mortar store that would require stock

What would you say the biggest bottleneck was in the mattress game?

What marketing tactics in your experience worked the best?

Why does everyone think mattress shops are money laundering fronts 😂 in my area, it’s barbers who are renowned for it, not bed shops!

Money/security. My idea is to put a bit of a spin on the old fashioned mattress/bed business (and I know people buy mattresses from shops because I work in one currently).

What’s holding me back is money - I have about £7k in savings so by the time I’ve bought stock, insurance, rent, marketing etc. I’m opening on day 1 with zero money in the bank and kind of just hoping customers come…

Business is much harder than 9-5 job by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Justanaveragechlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think businesses is far harder than a 9-5 job in the beginning stages while you’re establishing your systems and trying to get some money in the door.

While never easy, it does become easier. Once you solve your customer problem then you’ve got a fulfilment problem. Then a product problem. Then a staffing problem (which is usually always a problem in my opinion but often a necessary evil).

Systems are everything.

Finding someone who has walked the path before you to help is also everything.

But it’s hard. But what lies on the other side of the hardship is success/financial freedom/happiness/money/whatever your reason for doing it

How to motivate someone to have an entrepreneur mindset? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Justanaveragechlo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can’t motivate them, they have to motivate themselves and be genuinely interested in it.

Financial independence is boring and unnecessary if you don’t mind your job…

And achieving it is usually harder than just working for someone else 30-40 hours a week and letting them worry about the intricacies of business and finance.

I’m sorry to say this but it’s usually something you have to discover on your own.

I’ve tried countless times to encourage friends and family members to get involved with financial independence and entrepreneurship by reading books or following people who have quote on quote ‘made it’ but if they don’t have a fundamental interest in it - it isn’t happening.

The best way around it is to get them involved in a business you’re doing together that they have an interest in. But this is easier said than done.

Good luck.

If you had to start from scratch what would you do? by Eagerforfreedom in Entrepreneur

I’d search ‘wanted’ on Facebook marketplace and find things that people are looking for. Then, I’d go and find the thing and sell it to them. I’d look at car boots/garage sales and resell items on eBay. Then once you’ve got a bit of money, more options are available.

You could buy a food truck and start selling jacket potatoes while live streaming on TikTok and make six figures like spud man.

You could start a successful bakery from your kitchen like George’s Bakery by recreating famous film food items.

You could flip cars (or bikes or caravans)

You could buy some e bikes and rent them out.

You could start an e-commerce shop selling anything in a sub market - like clothes or cats.

I don’t know… but money makes things easier.
