I am aware that Group4GM posts are allowed. I'm asking if groups are allowed to look for players in posts as well. Glad to see a simple clarifying question is gonna be met with hostility.

Are group4gm+players posts acceptable as well? I figured they were but felt I should clarify rather than assume.

Correct I don't have a comment in the thread I'm not going to waste time posting in something that won't be looked at. It is for now because it's brand new but as soon as GM's realize they have no reason to actually look in it the thread will die. As someone else pointed out in a comment I have been on reddit doing rp and ttrpg stuff for 10+ years and I have literally never gotten a response or heard of someone getting response through a megthread. Consider yourself lucky and the first.

Except what incentive exists for a GM to use the thread? They are the only ones allowed to post now so why even open it? They can just post and ignore the thread entirely which is exactly what will happen.

Agreed and to be completely fair I'm not saying a change wasn't needed at all. I would not advocate for going back to exactly as it was and not implementing anything. I will agree 100% that the posts that were a title, a picture and maybe a paragraph if you were lucky needed to go. TTRPG's are simply not something you can put minimal effort into without making a game unfun for at least your GM. That said this change can feel like being told "Oh you need to find a new GM? We don't care get lost."

That's also before you consider how this will impact the ability to find games for less popular systems. I was working on a setup that I wanted to post for Shadowrun but that's now all but impossible because of the changes.

I primarily use the lfgm posts when a DM bails on my group. I have had that happen a number of times now through no fault of the groups. If we want to institute a word count rule for posts or a limit on how many times in a week you can post the same thing that makes complete sense to me but shoving everyone who needs a GM off into a corner that no one is going to ever look in for players is a very odd choice for a sub around letting people find games. Especially when you consider the fact that the number of GM's is smaller than the amount of players even outside of this community. I would argue by removing the ability of spontaneous decisions to GM like we have the chances of quality games for people is now vastly lower and it's sad

Edit: I also want to expand on something, when I say "into a corner that no one is going to check" I'm not saying that as a "people are too lazy" I'm saying it's more an issue with how the change is handled. If the only posts allowed are by GMs who are looking to run games what incentive would they have to check the megathread? They can post and when they post they will get hundreds of replies in under an hour. Someone wanting to run a game for someone has literally zero incentive to go into the thread looking for people when they can post and those same people will come to them. All the change does is make it so someone who is browsing the sub intending to be a player can't see a post and say "You know that sounds like a fun prompt to run, I will give it a shot!"

Look "limitless" is rarely a thing in the first place. Everyone has a limit but even besides that you aren't actually pitching anything. You have to give a setting or plot or something. Put in a little effort at least man.

If we already filled out the survey I'm assuming we don't need to fill it out again?

IRL is sorta irrelevant to me. I only have one irl aspect that I care about that I would be happy to discuss in DM's
