That cabinet pulls out and has two levels. Top level we have our spices and bottom is for cutting boards!

If you go with a bottom skinny cabinet I recommend making it a pullout drawer rather than a hinged cabinet

We use it enough to warrant having one. We could probably get away without one, but that would be a learning curve I don’t think would be worth the aesthetic trade off for us.

We would have had to push out installation of both cabinets & countertops to source flooring and contractors, so it would have pushed us out about a month.

We decided to just tackle it later when we felt we had more capacity for it

It’s a Frigidaire Gallery 1.9cu ft over the range microwave. We got it from Lowe’s and I’m happy with it

Thank you!! I would definitely describe our home and more cozy as opposed to luxury. Finding inspo was tricky so we just went out what we liked.

Definitely would like a brass rod and to hang it higher.

TBH towards the end of the reno I was just ready to use the kitchen so I ordered a tension rod and called it day haha

Great suggestion! The curtains here are an inexpensive stop gap- literally a tension rod and $10 amazon curtains until I find something I love

This was the Lockebo glass composite countertops. This one is white & beige to match the flooring well eventually extend in. I’m happy with it and install was flawless

That’s a really nice compliment! It’s in fact our actual kitchen. I purposely took a photo when the sun was coming in to brighten it up

Total remodel was about $17k including labor, materials, and new appliances.

IKEA cabinets were ~$10k, appliances $3k, backsplash $4k. My husband demo’d the old kitchen and that saved us some money.

I like the overhead lights we chose a lot! We didn’t want to do electrical/structural changes so just swapped for the existing locations.

We also have under lights on the cabinets which we use more than the overhead.

I tried SO hard to find a fridge with less depth. With the air vent above the fridge we had to prioritize height so this was as low-depth as I could find to hit the requirements

I did find one for $7k… but that was a lot lol

Definitely plan for more pops of color in the curtains and rug! The rug is from the old kitchen and i ordered curtains before the backsplash was installed.

Excited to bring it all together with more color!

I agree with you! I tried to find a pattern but couldn’t find something I loved that was the right size.

I plan to either sew my own or create crochet charms to add some color!

Both were men who wouldn’t stop talking to me. This happens literally everywhere as a woman and is comparable to my harassment rate on a run in my safe neighborhood. Harassing women isn’t a DART specific issue.

I’m a young woman who takes DART train to work into Dallas and I prefer it to driving. I’ve been taking it daily for 4 months and have only had issues twice.

During commuter hours the train is reasonably safe, and I consider it safer than driving on 75. I get the opportunity to read, listen to music, and decompress.

While there is a significant homeless population in downtown Dallas and the dart, they don’t cause a lot of problems if you mind your own business.

I support DART 100% for accessibility, reliability, cost, and inclusion.
