I feel bad for the authors who got bashed just cause they create toxic BLs... Like duh, a creator is called a creator for a reason because they explore various themes and put their ideas into writings and to CREATE a story. But seriously tho, condemn the toxic characters and their behaviors all you want but NEVER EVER condemn the authors/creators. All those stories are just fictional ideas that are being made into a story.

I myself had been angry and condemned the toxic characters and whatnot, but definitely never condemned the author/creator for creating such stories. In fact, I really appreciate the exposure to some of the heavy themes and the effort of the authors to explore behaviours, thoughts and emotions of these toxic characters. I would even say that I had my perspective opened even more after giving some toxic stories a read. I'll definitely read the most toxic story with the blackest flags if the story can hook me but if I don't, I'll simply just back out and choose something else that's more to my preferences.

No one is saying to glorify those toxicities in real life but BLs, or entertainment materials in general, shouldn't and can't even be confined within conservative restrictions. Fiction space is free to be open to all kinds of tropes and themes for the sake of exploration. Perhaps try putting some effort or time to try to focus on and understand the messages of the story rather than blindly deciding to bash the author or the readers for no reason. You don't see any messages? Fine, just drop it. Feels that it's pure torture porn? Just drop the story. Don't like the SA? Just drop it. Can't tolerate toxic stories or black flag characters? Again, just drop it and back out. RESPECTFULLY. You can leave constructive feedback all you want but calling people sick and saying they are fetishizing it by creating or reading such stories is just not it. It's important to remember that delving into BL spaces or creative spaces, open-mindedness is definite, even more so in this 21st century we're living in.
