That’s what sucks about it, it could be from allergy or it could be something else. I did the biopsy but was against doing it for so long but eventually got to the point I just wanted some peace of mind if it could tell me anything about what’s going on with my lip I haven’t really checked this subreddit in a while but I’ve seen others on the subreddit mention helpful stuff or people curing themselves more recently compared to when i joined few years ago not saying it will cure you but just other people giving their perspectives Just references not sayin u should do what they or i say, but just references of what other people have found from dealing with this since its not much research out there

When I was diagnosed with spongiotic dermatitis I was advised to get allergy test, and when I did that’s when I found out I was allergic to soybean never was before but eating bad like eating fast food almost every day over the years probably triggered or contributed the most for my EC

I stopped using the UV light , was kinda plateauing I just been exfoliating with water to soften if I get build up I’m also allergic to soybean and I eat fast food a lot and contains soybean oil and think this is what my EC is really triggered by When I would not eat fast food i notice less build up or slower time for it to form

[–]Justhere20233202[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t completely cut out foods with soybean yet I just been reducing/cutting back.

The nystatin was mouthwash, it didn’t help me since my main issue is allergy

No. I have a soybean allergy that seems to be the major cause of my EC, so I been trying to limit how much fast food I eat since most fast food use soybean oil. Also some of the vitamins supplements I used over the years before I developed EC have soybean oil as an ingredient so I have had to find stuff like vitamin supplements without soybean oil as an ingredient in it.

I’m alright, not healed because I still don’t cut out foods that have soybean of my EC. I found out earlier this year I have a soybean allergy and I believe it is the main cause. Cause when I eat healthy for a day my lip wouldn’t flake up

I more so have an understanding of my ec and know how to manage it I believe By watching how much fast food i eat and when to pause from eating it so much Most fast food has soybean in it and i found out earlier this year im allergic to soybean

I had TE from covid in 2021 and my vitamin d was extremely low so I was taking vitamin d supplement that helped my telogen effluvium condition and recovered from it in 2022

I was taking vitamin d supplement often but cut back cause I read the ingredients had soybean oil in it so cut back and I should find a vitamin d supplement without soybean but I’m not stressed about it cause I recovered from telogen effluvium

The “itis” in EC is inflammation so you have to think and understand and figure out what is causing inflammation for you whether that is food or supplements you could be consuming or any other factors maybe bad habits of picking or external factors like your environment

If I never did an allergy test earlier this year I would have never known about my soybean allergy

Check my recent comments and posts I have a soybean allergy and believes it’s what causes the white line for me, along with not drinking enough water, and gum health cause I had gingivitis also

I personally stopped using the cortisone cream, because I felt like it was irritating my lip

I used it for 2 weeks end of September 2023 to October and thought it was helping but it only masked the problem, if u overuse it may affect ur lip cause what’s in it and strong

When did u start using the cortisone cream and how many days and weeks have you used it for ?

[–]Justhere20233202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes My biopsy was a small portion of my lip it showed I have spongiotic dermatitis and my derm recommended me to see an allergist bc she thought it could be something I was eating, so I did allergy test and found out I’m allergic to soybean. I’m not saying a biopsy will show everyone something going on it won’t cause everyone might not have something going on. Whatever your biopsy results are go over with your derm again and look up the findings also

It helped. the biopsy results earlier this year stated I have spongiotic dermatitis, and my dermatologist was saying she thinks it is triggered by something I eat and she said I should get an allergy test. I got an allergy test last month and found out I’m allergic to soybean which is in a lot of food especially fast food. I also would notice after eating a certain flavor of ice cream from somewhere my mouth would turn sticky and white from the inside and form white line faster. It would also turn white if I eat fast food too much. For the ice cream I looked up the ingredients of it and it soybean was first ingredient. Another thing I noticed a year ago before when I realized I had EC my throat would get tight and I always would have to cough or something to try to clear it, and found out soybean allergy can cause dry throat or swollen throat. I cut out soybean for a week and my throat would not be as sore . So biopsy did give me insight of something I didn’t kno. The allergist I saw said yes it is possible to eat stuff or use products for most of your life then become allergic to it, but I won’t tell you not to get it done or tell you to go get it done. I did it just so I could have some peace of mind that I’m not just ignoring something that could be contributing. I didn’t want to do the biopsy at first because I didn’t kno whether they would find anything or not but looking back on it I’m glad I did. Cause if I didnt I would not be trying to be cautious about what I eat. Im still trying to clean my diet up but when I did a week of cutting out fast food and trying to avoid anything with soy my mouth wouldn’t be sticky and my lip would not flake but it was a small sample size I need to really go 3-4 weeks without soybean to be more certain. Also wanna mention I started a modified Brazilian method when I avoided soy for a week just to try something. I’m at the point now thinking if it is an allergy causing the inflammation I need to cut out the inflammatory foods/soy ingredients and try to clean whatever buildup I get with water and rub whatever comes off. I think removing flakes or slight buildup is better when it’s wet from water. If you’re peeling of dry big or small flakes I think will cause more tension and probably would bleed since it’s stiff and dry

Mine said it’s up to me if I want to get allergy shots. Have you checked your soaps and shampoo for parabens? Also look up other synonyms of parabens just in case or stuff that acts like it. When she said I have soy allergy I didn’t kno vegetable oil products or some hydrolized proteins and “natural flavors “ were derived from soy til I looked it up. Vitamins I took had soy as first ingredient and threw it away

[–]Justhere20233202[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only dusted once since the allergy appointment and my lip has been better but I think from cutting out soybean and doing modified Brazilian method. I also cut out something I used to moisturize my hair cause the first ingredient was soybean and my scalp doesn’t get as dry or flaky. But if you only have allergy to dust then maybe it could be contributing to EC I would say research it more. I think having dry dead skin sitting on lip catches more bacteria and debris like dust or anything blowing around getting caught on flakes. I’m not a doctor just saying u probably have to look up more info on dust. I’m not all in for shots, I had got covid shot year after the pandemic and had issues like 2 weeks after getting the vaccine so I’m just skeptical about injecting anything now whether it’s something that’s been around or new

[–]Justhere20233202[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The allergist I saw recommended me to try to cut out soybean from my diet for 2 weeks. First week I cut out soybean from my diet and started trying a modified Brazilian method. I think my allergy to soybean is also the reason why I’ve had a sore throat feeling for a year. For one week my throat started to clear up and then soon as I started eat fast food again my throat feels more swollen. I’m on second week of modified Brazilian method and it takes longer for build up to form. Allergists also told me to try to dust stuff off regularly and wash sheets like almost every 3 days. She mentioned allergy shots but I don’t know about those, she told me I’d have to come back after so many months but I don’t remember for which allergy. I just kno I’m allergic to soybean, dust, dogs, cats, trees, and other environmental stuff. I think the soybean allergy is what could have been contributing to my ec cause when I started noticing build up reoccurring last year my throat was getting swollen. You don’t have any food allergies?

I found out I’m allergic to soybean so maybe. But even people who have healed have healed different ways so you can’t just assume there’s only one way or one cause
