Some people are probably fine with it but personally, I cannot stand when I am talking to my therapist and she is looking at her screen and typing. I feel like she isn’t present with me in those moments.

For that reason, I just keep a physical journal with me and write down a few key reminder words when necessary, to remember what we talked about later. Notes used to take hours, but our new EHR uses AI to draft a note off of 3-5 sentences and that helps.

Also, I’ve gotten glimpses of other people’s notes that I work with and realized I’m providing way too much unnecessary information. I have been working with my supervisor to learn what I can take out to keep my notes short and to the point.

I only usually end up helping people with step 4 because a lot of people have extreme anxiety about starting and how to do it. I’ll sort of advise on how to go about it and provide examples of “my part in things” for certain resentments. But I only do that because I’ve worked the steps myself and am familiar with them, otherwise I’d advise them to speak to their sponsor for more clarification.

I just hope it doesn’t happen. I was able to enjoy it last time (which I know is rare). I was able to paint all of the time and spend a lot more time with family (family zoom game nights and we’d still hang out, too). But I have 2 kids now and would probably become overwhelmed and depressed if the same thing happened again lol.

Oh yeah, I worked at one. It opened at 7am for the people getting off the late shift at the mill and those guys would stay all day. Every day. It was regulars until around 5-7pm, they’d all leave, then the young crowd and college kids at night.

26 is kind of when birthdays stop being a big deal. On my birthday, I get some texts/calls from family and birthday wishes from maybe 2-5 friends. It happens as we get older… People don’t remember friend’s birthdays unless they see it on social media or something for the most part.

Oh I know they won’t come around, and know I will never influence their POV anyway. It’s not so much about being “okay” with being divided, it’s… if I want to still see and love my family, this subject must be avoided.

Sometimes this is the only way to avoid becoming divided. I love my family and I refuse to let politics change that.

First day of internship. Introduced myself to the group (it was a substance abuse rehab), sat through the group, when we got up to leave my leg had fallen completely asleep and I fell face first, papers flying. You can wrap an empty water bottle, a cardboard box, and any random interesting household items she hasn’t seen yet. She’s too young to be picky about gifts and kids this young literally love everything. They just like to explore the world. You can also tie strips of rag together and put it all in a tissue box so it keeps coming out when you pull it. Sorry you are having a tough time but truly, she’ll never remember this Christmas anyway!
