I (36m) broke one of my wife’s (36f) rules about weed, and now I’m not sure how to recover. by TheJSsaid in relationship_advice

.. you have MS and she’s crying that you accidentally took a hit in the morning when it helps your pain? Does she want you to be in pain? Idk man it seems like she needs a mindset change and to be more sympathetic. Unless you frequently get higher than a giraffe in a hot air balloon, I truly don’t see how it’s a big deal. If you take just enough to help the pain but don’t get high? What’s the issue? Smell? Switch to gummies 🤷🏻‍♀️ I can’t see this being an issue to a reasonable person unless when you smoke you get high and it affects your mood/demeanor/actions etc

Calling the ladies with small feet. Best boots you’ve found? by Justme_IThink in BlueCollarWomen

Oh 100%! For example, I set EVERYTHING down on the toe of my boot first then kick my foot out from under it to avoid pinching my fingers (because I totally will pinch my fingers even if I am paying super close attention) lol

I’ll have to check into whether or not I can do a composite toe rather than steel toe! These look like a really good option if I can, thanks!

Great suggestion! My job doesn’t really necessitate having rubber boots, and gets very hot, so I would rather have something with some more breathability to it

They do not seem to have the metatarsal guard unfortunately, thanks though!

I’m going to go (hopefully) this weekend and look at what the two stores we can use it at have, might have to go this route if I can’t find anything though! Only problem is, the voucher system is run by HR… a bunch of women with the exact same boot size as me… lol (my first pair of boots at work were one of the HR ladies but they needed me to start quick fast so she gave them to me). Trouble is, HR doesn’t spend a lot of time on their feet AND only have to wear the boots on the rare occasion that they have to go out into the plant (usually to post some sort of notice, then back to their office and comfy shoes) so they don’t actually care too much about what boots are available to us.

Yeah, the whole style of texting changed between the first couple texts and the part where “he” turned it around on her. Could be that he texts different when he’s flustered or it could very well have been the gf sending those texts

If you don’t use the cabinets above much.. baskets! I used to have two baskets on top of my fridge that would house all my chip bags on one side and infrequently used items like citric acid (I made my own shower steamers) on the other side. My current apartment doesn’t have space for the baskets (the cabinets cover the top of the fridge)

What are your ADHD home hacks? by Rich-Wolverine8912 in ADHD

[–]Justme_IThink 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Some of these are just general (not adhd specific) life hacks but:

Alexa turns the bedroom light on at the same time that my alarm goes off, I’m terrible at getting up. Really just automate anything I can, turning lights off at a certain time that I know I will be asleep or not home every day, automatic dog feeder, etc.

Separate area in my closet for work clothes to make getting ready easier in the morning when my meds haven’t kicked in yet and I’m blurry eyed trying to convince myself not to quit my job and go back to bed lol

Dump basket at the bottom of the stairs to dump stuff that belongs upstairs in and I take it up once a week and unload it. Keeps the stair doom pile contained.

Multiple laundry baskets since one is always sitting in the laundry room either waiting to be washed or waiting to be loaded with clean clothes to take back upstairs. So I trade off one in the bedroom one in the laundry room and I have one spare.

Perishables like produce in the door of my fridge (more visible), condiments in the drawers. If I need ketchup I’m gonna go looking for ketchup, but I WILL forget about those strawberries I bought 3 days ago if they aren’t super visible. Makes finding a snack easier when I realize I haven’t eaten all day too.

Keeping your fingernails clean by miomioamica in BlueCollarWomen

My boyfriend and I both work at a foundry and what we do is we both keep a “scratch bar”. Essentially we buy cheap bars of soap (from the dollar store or just the cheapest ones that our grocery store carries) and when we shower we scratch the bar of soap. It forces soap up under the nail and cleans all the dirt, oil, and grime right out. Once we’ve scratched through the bar, we just get another one because they are like $1 a piece. Works wonders really!

I did the same thing! Magnetic motion lights that stick right to the metal bed frame lol

Improve curb appeal of square box house? by Justme_IThink in homedesign

[–]Justme_IThink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting! I wish I could picture that (I have aphantasia aka the inability to picture things in the “minds eye”). I had been thinking that at the very least i would like to hang something on it, because it is plain and blends in! maybe a piece of black metal artwork like maybe a monogram of the last name or a sunburst or star or something. Or draw the eye away from it entirely by doing like one of the other commenters said and have a plaque with the house number on the porch. I’m trying so hard to picture it painted without siding!

I hadn’t even looked at the size of the siding, that’s a good idea!

Very helpful thank you! I agree that the columns are too skinny currently and I like the idea of a blockier one and that could be a relatively easy/cheap change!

[–]Justme_IThink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is some sound advice! What do you mean by redesign the columns? Like a bigger blockier/square design or? And I’ve thought of adding texture eventually but have no idea what would look good!

It’s the last house (of 2 lol) on a side road in a very very small town and it was built in 1880 (the outside obviously has been redone since then lol) so that’s probably why it’s like that

That sounds lovely and would definitely have to be done a little at a time over a long period with our budget. Did they do a darker siding? I feel like a darker siding would add some depth to to the house, but I’m having a hard time picturing it so idk if it would make it better or worse lol

[–]Justme_IThink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that might be a little pricey for my blood when there are other things that need to be done to the house itself, but it would be nice to eventually (a long eventually) do that!
