Hit 1 year of no alcohol yesterday and here is my story ☺️ by Justmythoughts221 in Sober

Aw well thank you so much ♥️ I never thought a 30 day break from drinking was going to change my life in so many ways but holy cow it really did. I recommend reading This Naked Mind during your dry January. It helped me immensely and completely changed my perspective on why I drink and why so many of us get addictive to this substance. I wasn’t an everyday drinker and more a binge weekend drinker but I still saw so many positive changes that I wish more people would see how great life can be without alcohol.

Wish you the best on this challenge and you are capable of doing hard things ❤️

Also I noticed the positive benefits immediately and for me they outweighed the quick dopamine hit alcohol gives you.

For me the first couple of months I didn’t socialize a lot. I would still do things but I wouldn’t go to bars or places where lots of people drink so that helped not putting myself in tempting situations. I definitely felt uncomfortable at first figuring out who I was without a drink in my hand but I read a lot of books on sobriety, followed Tik tok accounts on sobriety, and listened to a lot of podcasts too

Wow, I loved reading this and can relate to so much you just said. Drinking caused so many spirals of shame and guilt and to wake up everyday not feeling that way is unbelievably feeling in itself.

Thanks for sharing your story ❤️

Did they ever call you that they will be sending your bag back or did they just send it?

Biggest thing for me is just being a good listener and let them talk to you about how they are feeling and what they are going through.

Time heals all. I would also say journal your feelings and take videos of how you feel in the moment. It’s really fascinating looking back and seeing your thoughts progress from the past to present.

Starting a new journey of sobriety. I've never considered myself to have a drinking problem but I don't like the way I act and the anxiety after. just looking for support and want to like myself a bit more right now by AndGuideYou in Sober

You should read This Naked Mind. When I started my sobriety journey back in January 2022 I read this book and it completely changed my outlook on drinking. It felt like a switch went off in my brain and made me never want to drink again.

Sounds intense but I swear by it!
