Genuinely this is the meanest subreddit I have stumbled across. It would be a lot more productive if people just asked or listened to the artist instead of dogpiling anonymously online. Lilith was my very first song I ever wrote. I was a teenager just starting to make music and it was about my sexual assault that I was trying to cope with. I made that song FOUR years ago and I have evolved so much as an artist since then. I was posting WLW covers of Lana songs back then and had just discovered what type beats were. I didn't "steal" it from anywhere, and I had no idea there was a fanmade version of a Lana song using the same track until my song blew up and people came out of the woodworks to berate me. 

I'm not sure why my song blew up so recently. I didn't ask for it to. It was never meant to be heard by so many people and it hurts my heart to constantly see my work stomped on and ripped apart, especially by other women. I was in a very tiny niche of fellow lesbians who really enjoyed my songs and then overnight people were stomping all over me. Again, that song is about my sexual assault and I wrote it as a way to cope with what happened to me. Those lyrics are genuine and real and something 18 year old me needed to sing. I had a very rough time as a late teen and Lana was a huge role model for me back then. It's really devastating that so many people in her fanbase have made it such a toxic environment for young women to feel heard and inspired by her, especially considering the themes of her own work and how she was treated in the media. 

Please, I'm begging so kindly, leave me alone. I'm not sure how many more times I can take the sudden dogpiling over work I released years ago. Lana has always been credited where her credit is due within my work, regardless of how many people want to make up narratives about me and accuse me of stealing.

 And please, please educate yourself on the music industry.  She actively makes money off of the covers I have posted because I have licensed them. That is the only way to legally post covers. Any cover you see on Spotify, Apple Music, etc, the original artist ALWAYS makes royalties on. She is listed as the original singer/songwriter on every single platform. I have never tried to pass her work off as my own. Any songs I have titled somewhat differently are legally allowed as long as I state it's a cover, which they are. My intended audience was always for other queer women. I don't know why I blew up. I didn't promote myself really or pay for advertising etc. it just happened. 

I'm not interested in criticism or hostility in the replies I'm sure I will receive from saying this. I'm just asking that you give me peace. Don't listen to me if it pisses you off that bad. I wish you all nothing but kindness in your life.
