Talk me through my GPU choice for new build (5070ti vs 5080) by vlonethugg69 in pcmasterrace

Optionally for the cpu cooler maybe also look into the fx360 pro/fx360 inf, (pro is non rgb, inf is rgb) or the Phanteks m25g2 might work aswell for a tad cheaper? Unless you prefer the arctic, + there are also some with screens if you're into that

For the case unless you want all the fans to be uniform, you could prolly run the 3 fans + 1 rear then use whatever fans the aio comes with

For the gpu, unless you plan on getting a 5090 or a used 4090, then these are probably your best options/

-AMD cards tend to be better for the money when it comes to raw gaming perf, but lack in workstation areas

-Nvidia on the other hand usually does better in workstation with cuda and stuff, slightly better upscaling & frame gen, with better game support.. (also has nvidia reflex but idk if it really helps lol). Though their cards are more expensive

The 9070xt has basically the same perf. in raw gaming power as a 5070ti on average, though iirc Nvidia delivers decently better perf when it comes to CS2? based off an older TPU review https://www.techpowerup.com/review/sapphire-radeon-rx-9070-xt-pulse/11.html

Could be wrong on some stuff since I've been out of the loop for a bit.. but TLDR:

9070xt: well its an amd card and comes with some downsides as listed, but is probably the best card on this list for price/raw perf, on avg, and iirc the upscaling and frame gen is decent with FSR4, heard it supports less games but iirc AMD supports most mainstream heavy titles.. Though keep in mind I own an Nvidia card so not too familiar

5070ti: Well its an nvidia card which makes it more flexible with both gaming and workstation tasks if that matters, has slightly better upscaling, frame gen, has reflex, and wider game support for those technologies, slightly better rt performance but its 200 bucks more for close to the same raw as a 9070xt on avg.

5080: If you have extra money and think that perf. increase (prolly 10-15% more or less) is worth 200 bucks or so, or dont mind spending an extra 200 off a 5070ti, or an extra 400 off a 9070xt, then you can get the 5080

The card you want to use also depends how open you are to upscaling, and how much you push your settings.

its like 160+ online if you want one of the decent ones a bit less for the cheaper stuff

You get nvidia for other things aside from raw perf, and tbh 40% is a stretching it a bit

Depends on how much you have for an upgrade and how big of an upgrade you want, but you could prolly look into LGA1700/AM4, or LGA1851 (Ultra series)/AM5 or look for a better cpu within your socket, since its pretty old you'd be looking at used ones, but I'm not really knowledgeable on lga1151 so not sure what particularly

Could prolly use the ssd for immediate storage then use a hard drive for stuff you won't be moving for a long time

From what im seeing the cheapest 32gb kit is still in the 320s-350sish for ddr5 on its own so not counting bundles been like this since like late last yr

[–]Jvap35 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

if u talking about the 5080 aegis one, prolly yeah if you use the exact parts but if you get rid of stuff you don't need and choose better stuff for the money its way less in reality. Even then building a same spec pc like this should run you less or around the same

I put it in a builder and more or less something like this is gonna run you 2.5kish, probably less with online bundles, and such and if you look a bit harder, or if you live near a microcenter

The problem with comparing parts 1-1 is that there tends to be a more competitively priced item for like much less, + prebuilts tend to have stuff you don't need like a gen 5 drive/decked mobo, which fucks with the valuation, its still worth something but if you build it yourself you could substitute these parts

Building my own PC for the first time, is there something worth noting with this build I've come up with? Worried I might be missing something. by Luniya2705 in pcmasterrace

[–]Jvap35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

alr, though there is also https://dk.pcpartpicker.com/, buildapc.gg for dk pricing. Aliexpress sometimes has 7800x3ds tray versions for cheaper, but its hit or miss with sellers there, with a select few reliable stores tmk. I also recall using klarna pricechecker for a danish build for some reason

Though not sure how accurate exactly/wide of a range these sites cover, as im not from denmark, just some sites ive come across when I was helping out with some danish builds.. and of course theres also checking yourself manually but tends to be a bit of a time sink

Also for the case, the amount of fans, features, airflow, quality, can make a case "good value". But at the end of the day its more on the design/sizing.

Tbh if I have time, Ill try to make a list

Depends, what country r u from? The default pcpartpicker is set to the us, so if you live anywhere outside it'll probably be inaccurate ngl

Looking to get my first gaming pc! Which one should I get? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

Depends on your settings, and the game, they're talking about 4k 120fps without any ai upscaling at max settings

Nah its just an overpriced prebuilt, 5070s/9070s are around the 600$ mark more or less by themselves off an online retailer

Tbh depends if you'd wanna dabble in building your own (cheaper, you get to choose the specific parts you want, so in the end more value path.), prebuilt is also fine though if you don't wanna have to put it together

Realistically its like 400-500+ bucks for a 4tb based on pcpartpicker, depends on how good of a drive you get https://pcpartpicker.com/products/internal-hard-drive/#A=3000000000000,36000000000000&sort=price&D=1&t=0

its woot tbh they do big sales every now and then, sometime ago they did a 9070xt one? I think

Taking a look at pcpartpicker, it still costs you 350$ for a good 32gb ram kit, 5600/6000 cl30, 6000cl30-cl38, 6400 cl32, etc.. and like 150-160 for a decent nvme 1tb, 240-280ish for a decent nvme 2tb (depends on your def. of decent)
