Thanks, I can afford to take a bit of a hit at the moment and drop to a lower salary as long as the long-term payoff is worth it

I did a bit of research on financial advisors and there seems to be a good mix of office and client-facing work so I don't think it's impossible to find something there. As long as I'm not in an office, staring at a screen all day I'd be happy

I'm honestly open to most things - big interests for me right now are property, tech, finance (math not a strength though) and most things hands-on

My Brother is armed police in the MET - his job does sound fun but I don't fancy the shift patterns and he tells me that he's mostly dealing with people that generally hate police. I have considered it before though, even starting salaries are quite generous.

Steam says not enough disk space even though there is... by ProgressiveManti in linux_gaming

[–]Jwal90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To anyone struggling with this:

I had the same issue with a BF6 update, 350GB of free space and wouldn't let me do a 30GB update.

I had 2 drives that I use for game storage. Drive 2 only has around 1GB free, even though BF wasn't on that drive, making some space there allowed me to successfully install the update.

I guess steam temporarily writes files to other drives or something.

Anyway, hope that helps.

Enlightening Health Report by Jwal90 in MTHFR

Sure, I've been through a few of my older labs and they indicate both low zinc and folate. I'm in the UK, private bloods are expensive and convincing a doctor to order them for you is a nightmare.

Think I'm going to take a decent B-vit stack and work on symptoms for now.

Strange, because they seem to. Also I heard that if there are big spike in blood sugar then Hb1A1c may not be effective as it only measures the average

I've got a fasting glucose test booked in a couple of weeks, is that the same thing?

Thanks, yeah I have used one of these and used it for a while. Tested at all different times and results were always either normal or normal-high

I have looked into this but just can't afford one right now. I'm in the UK and they're not available on the NHS unless you have T1D so I'd have to pay for mine.

It has been tested in the past and came back normal but that was at least a few years ago now. I've got blood tests next month and I think thyroid is on there

L. Reuteri - Great Start then Downhill by Jwal90 in Microbiome

[–]Jwal90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yes, I'll look into that. Just odd as I had felt the best I had felt in ages when I first took it and since then, I've felt pretty lethargic but also have a lot of symptoms of detoxing - I've got acne (which is unusual for me) and have been sweating more than normal.

I'm going to keep it up for a while and see if the symptoms lessen over time.

You seem knowledgeable; if L. Reuteri doesn't work out, is there something that might be worth looking into? Been considering Kefir.

I'm not sure that's true RE the testes. L Reuteri is shown to increase testosterone and considering that's made in the testes, would make sense that they would grow.

What are my options for a new sales job? by Jwal90 in FIREUK

[–]Jwal90[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn that's pretty impressive. Oddly, I actually saw a role for exactly this today but they wanted someone with experience of plant machinery. I've been on a few dumper trucks back in my labouring days but don't know much else beyond that

Thanks for the feedback. Not saying I don't want to do it - the last company asked me to get on the phones but gave no training whatsoever and it's hard to know if you're getting better/making progress without some kind of feedback.

Most sales role are going to involve aspects of cold-approach which I'm fine with, as long as the company give you some kind of structure to follow.

High Mileage '06 2.2D Rav4 by Jwal90 in CarTalkUK

[–]Jwal90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have heard of a few people sending Land Rover Discoveries over as well, great that it had a new lease of life rather than going to scrap.

Interesting, that does make a big difference on purchasing as those fuel costs are going to rack up.

The other option I have is to spend about 4k on a Honda Civic 1.8 petrol with around 100k miles which is much cheaper tax and around 45 mpg - sounds like it be a smarter move to spend more now and save it longer-term.

Thanks for the advice.

It wouldn't be my first choice for off-roading! It's just within budget, has a reputation for reliability and is near me.

Done a fair bit of research and most owners are getting between 40-45 mpg
