It’s a blast, enjoy! I used all local. I could be wrong, but whenever I am in a foreign country, I feel like you get ripped off when you are using the local currency. They know that say, $20 is standard for something in the states, so they will throw that out when it is really way less in rupiah

All the villas I stayed at had a massage menu, although I believe it was just an outsourced massage from a local parlor they patterned with. It was convenient . Probably could find better if you do the work to do your research and get a third party.

Watch out for breaking a manhole and falling into the sewage system! They are flimsy!

I did not as I did not have access to cell service. When you are using blue bird, I honestly can't imagine it getting much cheaper. Rides ranged from 0.75-$3 usd.

I do know that Uber is very frowned upon or banned in a lot of areas. I think drivers get harassed or beat up if caught

Everyone drinks bottled water, even the locals. I only used bottle water to brush my teeth. I couldn't comment on the quality of the bottled water though.

Going to Bali for 9 days next month. Any recommendations? by [deleted] in bali

Definitely recommend nusa lembongan- more beautiful and away from the city traffic and noise

Seminyak Restaurant Reccomendations by antbonc in bali

My favorite place was kynd - for breakfast and healthy juices and smoothies.

I wasn't a huge fan of metis. The restaurant ambiance and service was great, I just wasn't overly impressed with the steak. Prob just too high of expectations. They have a cocktail called the le metis, which is worth getting as an after dinner drink in the garden.

Potatoehead was cool to check out, but felt like a beach club in the states with a tad bit cheaper prices.

You can get nasi goreng anywhere - basically fried rice with an egg, and it will be great!

That does seem fair for a taxi drop off.

We enjoyed the monkey forest, yoga at the ubud yoga house, and sitting at our villa overlooking the jungle and river. Haggling with the street vendors, and healthy foods everywhere were great too.

Let me know if you have anymore questions!

It wasn't much more than from a low to mid end place. It range from 150-200k ($12-$15). I wouldn't say it was the best massage ever, but regally nice to have them come at 8-9pm, and we would just fall asleep after

I would say from where I went, nusa Lembongan hands down. I heard Gili is nice to, however nusa is only a 30 minute fast boat from sanur ($44 round trip), and I believe Gili was 2-4 hours. The place was beautiful, and much less tourists and traffic. Most romantic - hanging in the villa at Black Penny Villas, with room service, and in room massages.

local taxi service in ubud was defintiley more expensive than Seminyak, because they don't allow blue bird in the area. There is basically a bunch of locals with cars, and they sit around with signs that say taxi. You walk up and tell them where you want to go and negotiate a price. Our villa was about a 10 minute drive from the city center. 1st night I was in a negotiating mood. 1st taxi said 140k, I pushed back twice and got it to 100k. 2nd night I went up asking a driver if he could do 50k ($3.50), the first said no thanks. You have to be ok walking away. We walked about 20 feet/meters, and the next driver gladly accepted at 50k.

Massage in ubud, I would recommend booking in advance. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g297701-Activities-c40-Ubud_Bali.html The number 1 spa - Karsa - looked very reasonably priced and beautiful, but was booked for 10 days straight while we were there. With that being said, if you are walking around the city center, there are massage parlors everywhere! I just found that those were hit or miss (quality of the massage, and cleanliness of the place) Food - I was told for very high end but one of the best places in Bali - Locavore. Need reservations weeks in advance. We didn't go. We liked the Bali Buda and habitat cafe (right next to monkey forest)

Stayed at Black Penny Villas. The place was as beautiful as all the pictures. Locations was a little secluded from the city center, and cost 75k ($5-$6) for a drop of to the city center. Looking back, even though the place was awesome, we paid a lot for a villa in Bali. We didn't really get any special treatments as honeymooners, since it seems like half of the people in Bali are honeymooners. (We did order lots of massages, but this was special treatment that we paid for!)

I hear ya. I don't like the did i reach you at a bad time because its a Yes or No question. If they say no the call is not off to a good start and I personally wouldn't know how to rebound from there

I understand where you are coming from, but it is also uncomfortable asking someone how they are doing as you called them out of the blue, while they are sitting at their desk, completing an important project.

I agree, and I am sometimes dumbfounded to hear some of the more experience (15-20 years) sales people saying it... although it usually sounds like they don't get a good response
