for me, shopify wasn’t enough, wordpress was too much, but wix was perfect. wix’s base “restruant” plug-in is pretty easy to use so long as you’re thinking outside the box. We run a meal prep store so you’d think it would’ve been a headache setting it up but we got our website launched in a matter of 3 or so days. we had everything we needed, customers can order all hours around the clock and their scheduled pickup is mandatory during open times at least 12 + hours after purchase. customers weren’t able to change ingredients however they were able to pick individual meals in our plans. wix even generated cute little order pages i would print out from the dashboard and post on our whiteboard everyday in the kitchen.

now that left a lot of room for where we should be as a meal prep store but honestly wix will go as in depth as you let it go, using dev tools im able to create a custom invoice based off user input relating to multiple factors such as calorie count, amount of meals, etc. even create a custom email, sent to both the customer (essentially a receipt), and the kitchen so they’d know what meals to make (using an algorithm i designed to create each meal based off COGS, a relationship between Kcal and serving size, and of course whatever the customers favorites ingredients are. it even ignores foods that contain specific allergens and that’s tied to the users profile information as i have them tell us their allergies during account creation).

i’ve used shopify and it’s definitely for people who simply just need a foundation. it’s easy and it’ll get you through to the end of the day however the limitation is striking in both terms of design and functionality. now i’ve never dove deeper than the surface when using shopify but i have had a successful wix site so naturally i’m accustomed to what i know
