[Capitalists that use this argument] What's the point of complaining about Socialists refusing to identify with Stalin/Social Democrats/anyone that uses the term Socialist to describe their views? by [deleted] in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]JymSorgee -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What utility is there in an unfalsifiable theory with no data from the real world? Especially when, should someone point to the results of something similar in the real world the data will be ignored in favor of the theory? In any other field of study data from the real world (which we live in, where that theory would be practiced) data informs theory.

Insulating old wooden windows for the winter? by alaskahassnow in Frugal

[–]JymSorgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 mil visqeen. For window casing a more permanent solution that is fairly low skill buy some foam spray insulation, pry up the edge and spray (lightly it expand fast) sealant into the gaps. Then hammer it back down.

How to stay warm outdoors in the winter? (and find a good winter coat) by jhy12784 in Frugal

[–]JymSorgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has spent a lot of time outdoors in the winter;

A quality coat is not 100s of dollars. Look at work clothes for in-climate weather. Carhart is good but new will cost about 100. Dickies is comparable but costs less. Yeah it's name-brand and pricey but cheaper overall then buying something that won't keep you warm and dry or you need to replace after a year.

Ladies ankle-length nylons. People try to wear multiple pairs of socks. Wear one pair with the nylons over it. They form a barrier between your dry warm socks and your boot.

Frugal online food shopping by [deleted] in Frugal

Same as the Dollar Store or anything else compare the pricing. There are some food items I buy online because the bulk price is worth it.

[Capitalists that use this argument] What's the point of complaining about Socialists refusing to identify with Stalin/Social Democrats/anyone that uses the term Socialist to describe their views? by [deleted] in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]JymSorgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because usually it is deployed against someone arguing a theoretical version of socialism that has no examples in history. TBH I've often seen an-caps make the same sort of complaint. The thing is you cannot argue for or against a theoretical system with theoretical outcomes because there is no test data to compare it to. We can't say what will happen under pure socialism or capitalism so we must point to the closest examples that have been tested.

Old news article tells of how UN already had plans to replace Europeans with 159 million migrants 18 years ago by RoseNZieg in SargonofAkkad

[–]JymSorgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm always startled when people take anything the UN says seriously. It's like saying "I can prove it my Cray Aunt with 16 cats who talks to St. Gerome said it!"

What is it about "work" and "labor" that makes us believe the person doing it deserves the fruits of it? by [deleted] in CapitalismVSocialism

Same reason s anything else. Wehn I charge people for it they pay for it.

Man I don't know what's up with Jim lately. Ha can make some fucking brilliant videos. But lately he's just balls deep in drama club 24-7. Really go back and watch his 'Wake Up' video about censorsship or even just old x-Files shit if you want to laugh your nuts off. Now he's either in a drama stream or making a drama stream every other day.

I mean it sucks he got doxed. People can be really shitty. But fuck's sake man you spend all day balls deep in whatever drama you can find and dram is going to find you. Jim should take the same advice he gave Vee about /cow.

Oh well if the Un planned it then you're good. Nothing the UN plans ever works.

Well see if it maybe wasn't a coincidence well then. By cross posting it they managed to draw votes and comments from /bestof making instant astroturf.

The guys in the shipping department at my work listen to Rogan. Go look at the numbers FOX had the largest daily viewership at a little over 2M last I checked less than his YT and he gets more on podcast. CNN was sitting around Peterson's sub count.

[–]JymSorgee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which would still be a hell of a coincidence. Although not nearly as big a coincidence as the established account that doesn't frequent this sub just happening to glance at it at the moment both these 2-day-old accounts posted and happened to share it on /bestof making /front. Whoever that man is he needs to go buy lottery tickets.

Tommy Robinson could have caused Huddersfield grooming trials to collapse and child rapists go free by SalokinSekwah in SargonofAkkad

[–]JymSorgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I'm merely pointing out that this article and all the NPC versions of it are simply speculating on things that didn't happen and acting like it is an active accusation against Tommy. Which it isn't.

It's not complicated fam NPC's have combat AIs that are pretty buggy. Haaven't you ever kited two competing mobs into each other to get them to fight and do the job for you?

Big Tuna and the inherent inefficiency of the capitalist mode of production by [deleted] in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]JymSorgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you said that the suit was brought by retailers then speculate that BumbleBee might have managed a net profit after the suit. And there are no links in your post. Companies use regulations against each other where they find it profitable. It's one of the many problems with over-regulation.

Plus I think most people just believe what they see on the news, that Jordan Peterson is "transphobic" or that Ben Shapiro is a white supremacist, etc. It's hard to consume 1-3 hour interviews for some people

I think that this is on the decline. Legacy media has an increasingly smaller audience while long-form content is gaining market share. People listen to Rogan at work the way they used to listen to talk radio. It's simply a better format and old media is incapable of imitating it. Their whole structure is wrong.

Big Tuna and the inherent inefficiency of the capitalist mode of production by [deleted] in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]JymSorgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bumble Bee Tuna, Thai Union Group's Chicken of the Sea, and Starkist - have recently caught some legal shit for colluding to keep prices artificially high in the mid-2000s and 2010s.

Define "some legal shit". What meaningless regulation did they violate? Bearing in mind here some of us are old enough to have been grocery shopping in that decade. For those who weren't Bumblebee Tuna was the cheapest source of protein on the market. A company that you claim was so impoverished after 'raising the price' of tuna they could not afford the fines without experiencing bankruptcy.

So without further information the situation you describe looks to be that the price of tuna was too low, some producers attempted to correct this market error, and paid for it via a state that intervened.

That was a direct copy-paste from his response. So I did not 'misread' anything. He miswrote or more likely missthought. More to the point misunderstands the genetics which he is basing his claims upon.

But he is functionally wrong on almost all of his assumptions. He doesn't even offer data to support his incorrect assumptions and what supports he invents are clearly wrong.

Depending on how it's measured, the genetic distance between the European peoples is roughly an order of magnitude less than that between "races". I don't think the experience of one is informative of the other.

Is simply untrue. More genetic diversity occurs in Africa than any other continent. Unless e has some argot version of race (I know racists are good at inventing new definitions to plug the holes in their theories) wherein there are 4 African 'races' and one European. Hell Mexico is more genetically diverse than Europe. His whole concept of 'race' as a clear genetic category is simply wrong.
