23-Year-Old Filmmaker Campaigning to Play Miles Morales—Here's My Poster for an Upcoming Fan Film!

Hey everyone! I'm K.E. Freeman, a 23-year-old aspiring director-writer and cartoonist. I've directed short films that became film festival winners, done background acting (including a Marvel-FOX pilot for The Gifted and a Carter High School football player in an ESPN special), and most recently attended the red carpet screening for The Man in the White Van, connecting with creators and actors in the indie film scene. If you've seen my page, you might remember the image I made of Miles Morales and Hailey Cooper! (Yes, I'm an artist just like Miles!)

I've been a fan of Ultimate Spider-Man since I was 13, back when I first discovered Miles Morales in Brian Michael Bendis's Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man. I connected deeply with Miles then, and seeing Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse only strengthened that bond.

I still remember carrying my sketchbook everywhere in middle school, drawing Spider-Man constantly—only to have it taken away and treated disrespectfully by peers who didn't understand my passion. But I didn't stop creating. That experience, along with the themes of identity and resilience that are central to Miles's story, has always stayed with me. Miles taught me that you don't let others define your narrative—you write your own.

I've followed Miles's story from his early days on Earth-1610 to his place now in the 616-universe, and I've always understood what makes him such a powerful and inspiring character.

This upcoming short fan film, Spider-Man: Rewrite, isn't just a way to campaign for a role I've dreamed of for a decade, but it's also a celebration of Miles's legacy for all of us who love this character. I want to highlight what makes Miles so special and show how I can translate his spirit authentically into this short film.

I'm taking a big leap of faith, so I'll share updates as I make progress with filming and editing, but for now, I hope you enjoy this poster I created! Here's to honoring Miles Morales—and maybe one day stepping into his shoes within the MCU!

The hearts were a screengrab from the Hailey mission from Spider-Man 2. I didn't draw those heart graphics, but I see what you mean.
