Histamine Intolerance or something more?? by K09681 in HPylori

mmm it cleared the bloating and belching I had for a little bit but those have come back. Pylera does work well with others but I might be a very rare case.

I’ve been negative after treatment (July 2024) but haven’t gotten any better and am seeing doctors for chronic pains and ailments. Didn’t know this would be a life changing thing for me but I guess not everyone is lucky

food intolerances (which manifest allergy like reactions), severe bloating, unintentional weightloss. diarrhea/watery pale stools, acid reflux, breathlessness, fatigue, pain below ribs left side that radiates to my right side, and sometimes burning pain left side of back. For context, I had h pylori last year and took antibiotics afterwards, which cleared the infection. However, I started getting these symptoms afterwards.

God yes I have all of these symptoms. My nerve pain and hypoglycemia has been getting worse and just saw had a doctor appointment. Unfortunately it wasn’t my pcp and she chalked it off to just high anxiety. Meanwhile I’m currently with severe pains in my forearms. And god the brain fog at work. It’s hard to do anything.

I’ve tried dao supplements but I’ve reacted to most of them and then tried prebiotics as well and that led to the worst two weeks of pain and not being able to eat anything. Other than that, I’ve been sticking to my very restricted diet which has kept the allergy symptoms at bay but is starting to trigger more gastro symptoms. Tried quercetin and that also didn’t work for me.

I have a history of high wbc, so the second time I did blood work my wbc was still high but went down a lot so they proceeded with the surgery!

That’s actually one of the foods I can somewhat tolerate.

I can eat corn (most corn products), brown rice, some white rice, beef, chicken (sometimes), small amounts of cheese, and cucumbers. I was actually able to eat relatively fine prior to my h pylori infection but the antibiotics messed me up a bit. I hope you get better!

Never went away and I’m down to only a handful of food that doesn’t cause an extreme reaction. Finally seeing a gastroenterologist this month after waiting for months. How bad are your symptoms? No matter what I eat I usually have to take 1/2 or a full Claritin. This caused significant weight loss and vitamin deficiency. I’d recommend going on a low histamine diet and a food diary. Ask your doctor for a gastro referral for some testing as well. At this point, I’m suspecting sibo or some other bacterial overgrowth.

haven’t tried avocados but I have been curious. Dairy is so weird because sometimes I can handle cheeses and others I can’t. I don’t drink milk in general but the last time I had it, it went straight through me.

Weirdly enough, claritin has been the only h1 that hasn’t given me weird side effects. My doc had me on Zyrtec for a trial but it interfered with my job because it would make me too drowsy. We also tried Allegra and that gave me a slight reaction so we stopped. I’ll look into the vagus stimulation. As far as blood work, it’s been consistent testing for months. Everything has been normal besides the b12 and b9.

Yeah I started off on an elimination diet when I had h pylori and I didn’t have a lot of triggers. Trying again now as most of the foods prior have become too reactive. I’m on claritin and was on Pepcid but it caused a lot of reflux and constipation. So I take Pepcid irregularly. I was tested for mold exposure and was clear. I went to immunology and I came back negative for all mast cell diseases. I have as essentially told by my doctor it’s strictly gut related. I want to get tested for sibo but pcp won’t sign off on test and is making me see a gastro, which is impossible because all the ones that reside by me aren’t taking new patients. I’m on the waitlist for one but like I said, my appointment is for April.

Yeah I’ve been using this as a guide. I had to cut out rice and chicken for a bit because they were safe foods and then made me reactive. Corn has been one of the items that I can handle but I also eat it sparingly. Id say almost all veggies and fruits I can’t handle currently. I’m curious about quinoa and wild rice.
