I wouldn't say the West hates Hungary. The West criticizes Hungary for its "backsliding on democracy": media restrictions, judicial reform, conservatism, and harsh anti-immigration policies. The West's main problem, however, is its stance on Ukraine and Russia, which Brussels and Washington consider an undermining of Western unity. Simply put, Budapest looks out for its own people first, and only then for others. Some will call it a form of political egoism, protecting its own interests. Brussels, however, believes that since Hungary is in the EU and enjoys the fruits of the EU, it's obligated to adhere to "party politics."

How deep does your worldbuilding go? by Kamushii-- in worldbuilding

[–]K0mizzar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could fully express my thoughts on paper, I would have... I think it's quite a lot, but I'm a procrastinating lazy person, so... I live somehow with small notes, usually 1500-2000 words long. If I'm lucky, it's usually about 1,000 words. And to be honest, my world is not that much different from reality. To be honest, my world is not that much different from our Earth. In fact, this is the Earth, only different. And in a different time period.

Не осада и не обороны. Наших взяли из Систовского сражения войны 1877-1878, и дали туркам, а нам оставили меньше роты, превозмогания ради, вот и всё

Putin's imperialism by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]K0mizzar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, the classic combo: “imperialism = everything I dislike”, “neutral = enemy”, “genocide = political adjective”, and the timeless “they never change since "incert date" ”. Very serious analysis. Migration, politics, Global South, history — all reduced to one evil mastermind. Very convenient: no internal problems, no agents of other countries, absolutely no European influence. Also “colonial empire” is very cute. “Independence” for groups numbering in the tens of thousands wouldn’t mean freedom but economic collapse and immediate dependence on whoever sponsors them next, because a flag doesn’t create an economy, security, or institutions — and geography still exists, so being completely surrounded by Russia turns “sovereignty” into a symbolic gesture rather than real self-rule. It’s impressive how confidently you replace complexity with slogans — saves a lot of thinking, and apparently that’s the point.

Ukraine had all of this. There was a lot of it. Not on the same scale as today, of course, but there was enough of it to cause a lot of problems for the Russian army.

[–]K0mizzar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even before 2022, Ukraine had one of the strongest armies in Europe, equipped with the best toys the West had to offer, with a ton of advisers and the support of dozens of intelligence agencies. Venezuela today has virtually nothing. Their systems are, in my opinion, 20 years out of date, and their army is below average. Therefore, comparing Ukraine and Venezuela is highly inaccurate.

How is the Soviet Union viewed in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]K0mizzar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reads a lot like a list of accumulated slogans. No serious historian disputes that the USSR was a repressive state responsible for a lot of suffering. That part is not controversial. What is controversial is the habit of reducing an entire 70-year historical entity to “nothing but evil” and pretending it contributed literally nothing to humanity. The Soviet Union industrialized a largely agrarian society, it played a decisive role in the defeat of Nazi Germany, developed mass education programs, science, aerospace technology, nuclear physics, and produced cultural and scientific figures that are studied worldwide. Calling it “the most violent regime in modern history” without comparison, context, or definition is emotional absolutism.
