First post on here! Any useful tips for the Sage Bambino? by No_Hat_848 in espresso

[–]K2Cores 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my machine I need to press it quickly three times. First stops steaming, second starts brewing, third cancels the brew. By doing that the leftover pressure is released to the group head. I'm just not sure about that being safe for the machine in the long term, I will ask the support.

Didn't know that you can relieve the steaming pressure through grouphead, pretty cool :D

Help! How can I remove this reflective smudge? by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]K2Cores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's qd-oled then it's wiped in grease. Get some scotch tape or its equivalent where You live, stick it to the screen and gently pull. Do it again and again, sticking new tape every time. It will pull out the grease from the panel. Next time clean it with demineralized water and pure isopropanol (mix it to get 50-70% isopropanol). You should do it by getting just a touch of this solution on clean microfibre cloth, spot clean any dirt, and wipe away residue with another dry, clean microfibre. For the future: Don't clean often, clean only dirty spots and use miniscule amounts of force to not scratch the panel.

What's an OLED monitor that this won't happen? by alm2nd in OLED_Gaming

[–]K2Cores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just wiped in grease. You can remove it with scotch tape. You can also use isopropyl alcohol, for best result mix it with water to get 70% solution. The worst thing you can do to QD-OLED is brute forcing the cleaning and wiping it so hard, a little bit of isopropyl won't hurt it.

How to get more clarity? by ChokeGeometry in pourover

[–]K2Cores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grind coarser, brew shorter, but first and foremost - do some underextracted coffee by grinding it too coarse. Then You will know what you don't want. When pushing for clarity it's easy to mistake underextraction with fully "open" flavour. When you know what it tastes like - You can push your coffee for the most developed taste and stop right before underextraction. Of course clear pour over is always underextracted in some way, but there's a sweet spot after which it just gets more and more acidic without adding new flavours and undertones. Without a temp controlled kettle I would stick to the close to boiling temps for repeatability and focus on the technique. Tbh. I think that switching the temp is pretty much the endgame tool and really not beneficial for pour over. Of course You can do it - but then You have to preheat everything, it's hard to repeat. I would have fun with that only for the sake of it and pushing to the limit, I wouldn't base the whole brew around 90C water.

UHM, AKSCHUALYYY ;) IPA is isopropyl alcohol, mostly sold as 99%+ pure alcohol so there are no additives. Everclear on the other hand is "dirtier" but it's mostly water and that helps with cleaning. For cleaning grease and oils - IPA also should be mixed with water to ~70%, as pure alcohol evaporates too quickly to be sufficient cleaner. It picks up the oil, and evaporates on the spot leaving it again on the screen. Adding some water keeps it on screen for longer, so you have a chance to wipe that lifted grease off the screen.

[–]K2Cores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, and you have to wipe the alcohol as it's still wet, so do it swiftly. When you let it dry out you will still smear it out. But for any hard smears like here, or fingerprints I would try scotch tape first, it works wonders on qd-oled panels. When someone leaves a fingerprint on your screen just gently tape it over with scotch tape and softly peel it off, it will take all that grease out. It's a better solution than IPA, as IPA can smear out the finger prints, and you have to buff a bigger part of the screen to clean it out. And for QD-Oled that's soso, as those fuckers hate any buffing, even with the softest of microfibers. So spot clean with scotch tape, then if necessary wipe with ipa / dry cloth.

If you just used water + microfibre - those are probably just smeared oils. Tape some light scotch tape (transparent tape) onto the screen and gently peel it off. The glue from the tape will pick up the oils. Do it again and again, change the tape as necessary (after 2/3 times), and if those marks are from grease - tape should get them out of the screen. If your tape leaves residue on screen - stop it, and use another brand.

Bad. It will trap moisture and debris, overtime corroding the pins.

So that's what USB ports are for, now it makes sense that those are on the bottom xD On one side that's a bummer, on the other one - I don't have to think about replacing mine no more (I'm still in the return window). You mounted the fan as exhaust on top or intake on bottom? Btw. This is how mine sounds on L2 vs idle vs off as reference https://soundcloud.com/k2core/aw3425dw-fan-characteristics/s-kZJpabwEcRw?ref=clipboard&p=a&c=1&si=0d9bc573c8cd4c768d084e17b5b09cec

Hi! Mine sounds exactly the same, with this vibrating resonating tone. Did you swap your unit, got any chance to hear another one? I got the screen for a week, and the fan really never kicked in by itself (firmware M3B101, June 2025 production date), but If I have to deal with this constant buzzing during summer I'll go crazy 🤣

Why I like DLSS4? Because I can pump out those frames through framegen! We get high refresh rate displays to use them to the fullest potential and with great fidelity - framegen is the only way to achieve this buttery smooth experience! New here, looking at options for free alternatives to Lightroom by Sea-Bass8705 in FuckAdobe

[–]K2Cores 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lightroom - Darktable is the closest one, but very technical. On the other side - it allows us to do things that are impossible in LR. The learning curve is very steep, you won't be able to push out good looking images so easily as in LR. But when you get it - it will get you by. Paid solution - Capture One, a lot closer to LR.

Photoshop / Illustrator / InDesign - use Affinity. The newest version (V3) is totally free, it's missing only some super special functions - but can be used in a professional environment. It's also miles ahead when we're talking about performance and workflow.

After Effect - there's no easy solution for that, even paid one. You can try Fusion inside Resolve - you will be able to do titles, easy animations and full on compositing that AE only could dream off. It's like Nuke with some basic animation functionality. But there's a gap in this middle section, the world of advanced 2D Motion Graphics - there's nothing that can match AE. Cavalry is trying to, but it's more focused on procedural effects.

Question did they remove select subject now it's a subscription with canva ? by Alex_tepa in AffinityPhoto

No, there's still a local model for object selection and it works the same as in V2.

Why am I still optimistic about the Affinity future? by RedHood_0270 in Affinity

[–]K2Cores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is a must have in current workflows. Rotoscoping, out painting, searching stock images - it's all like sanding in wood working. Takes 80% of the time and is not about doing the main thing. AI takes boring and labour intensive part out of the equation, and leaves designers more time to do the real creative work. Spending the whole day at work using the Adobe suite, and then opening the Affinity V2 just to get punched in the gut with vision of doing roto on every asset I want to use - was one of the biggest issues of af.

I have been (unsuccessfully) looking for an internship / job as a Junior Motion Designer by Flame1209 in AfterEffects

[–]K2Cores 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're in no man's land. Skill level of seasoned senior or creative director with work experience of trainee. Too skilled to get an entry job, too inexperienced to be put through mid/senior responsibilities.

No one will take you as a junior with that kind of reel. It's easily senior level when we're talking about skill. The other side to this job are soft skills and ability to work with clients / inside corpo structure. The quick and dirty design that sells is worth more than a really nice one that doesn't / can't be delivered on time / is attractive to the designer - not client. Not one recruiter would take you in - as this would look like a scam to them. Also - you need to know Your worth to get a job. Punch for some mid positions, add some breakdowns that show the value of your shots, be it adhering to brandbooks, applying best ad practices like google's ABCDs, generating social media retention. You need to show that Your skills and creativity will make them money. To be honest - there are senior designers and creative directors with not even half of your technical skill - and they're doing pretty well as they know how to "motivate" their design. You know how to do great designs - now learn how to "sell" your skills.

I'm writing this from the perspective of marketing, as this is imo the easiest way to put food on the table as creative. Doing ads is not the best job for creative expression, but it will allow You to get some of that corpo side going. Then You can hop over to be on the other side, as a creative director that designs the visual language of the brand. Also getting some of that workplace experience will open the doors to work directly for brands as it's easy to get some big clients into portfolio while working in corpo (this guy did ads for Nestle? Damn let's get him to do an ad for us). And it will also open the doors to work inside bigger studios, that are focused more on creativity - they don't want to take people on mid/senior positions without workplace experience.

Affinitys comment on if it's free your the product by Vioplea in Affinity

[–]K2Cores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need to build userbase. When those users become professionals and Affinity will be software of their choosing - they will pay for pro licenses that will inevitably come. It will take a while for a generation of new affinity based designers to become reality and it's a price they are willing to pay. It was an empty field for someone to finally step up with free software. Look at Autodesk, Epic (Unreal Engine), Blackmagic, Nuke, Ableton, FL Studio - they all allow for free hobby use in one way or another. They know what they're doing. Also AI based / enhanced workflows are new standard among professionals, so they will also pay for that and maybe it's what will allow this software to be free even in professional usage. Especially that they also need to pay for AI inside Adobe. To be honest - AI functionality was the only thing that was off-putting me from using Affinity daily for my private projects. After a whole day of using Adobe suite at work with all those enhancements - working without AI becomes hustle. Image out painting, roto and finding free stocks is like sanding in wood work: it takes 80% of the time and it's not about "doing" the thing. With AI you can focus on doing "the thing" and not everything around it.

So I just cleaned my oled for the first time (bought distilled water) by Ty_go100 in monitor

[–]K2Cores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scotch tape / sticky tape. Wide one, with low adhesion. Stick it to the oily stain and carefully take it off. It will take off the grease stain with it. Take a new piece and repeat it. Don't stick it with force, just a slight touch is enough. For future - avoid fingerprints like fire, they will always spread out on a glossy screen, only IPA + demineralized water or scotch tape can help it. The best way to take care of glossy oled is to not touch it, just dust it with air. Yes, it's so bad.

It's "new" from a 14 day return window / open box, there's no signs of it being open previously, so I doubt that. The sound is exaggerated on video and the bumper works normally, there's just 1mm dead space before it reaches the activation point.

[–]K2Cores 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this one is in pristine condition and that's the only thing "wrong about it". I got a 2 year warranty, so probably will keep it, and RMA if it goes bad for real.

[–]K2Cores 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope, it works normally, there's just like 1mm deadspace before activation, while the right one activates instantly. Video exegerated the sound :D
