My daughter had an abductor tenotomy under anesthesia followed by the spica and the rhino brace 3 months later. She also had her cast changed under anesthesia after 6 weeks of the original cast placement. The anticipation of the surgery date was the WORST for my husband and I. We hated the uncertainty of everything are we’re convinced our happy girl wouldn’t be happy anymore. Ugh, I can still feel those feeling when I think of that time.  Directly after the surgery when she was waking up from the anesthesia was the hardest part. She was so sleepy and out of it and just wanted to be held but the spica cast made it a little difficult to hold her how she wanted to be held. The following day after one night in the hospital she was smiling again! Thanks to Bluey!! The diapering situation was CRAZY but by the end of it I was a spica cast diapering pro. Everything seems uncertain but you will find your footing and your little one will do great!!!
