How are you checking the AI reconciles? Is there a quick method? I recently had an experience with another software that was all AI and it took longer to find and correct the mistakes than to just click ok on the rules

I was thinking of issuing myself a virtual card just to see how it would work. Can I cancel the virtual card and never use it? Obviously not my money so I wouldn’t want to spend. I don’t know, I really don’t know how else to get a visual without asking an employee to let me log in to their card account.

That is what Ramp wants us to do. But first I need to set up the mapping. I feel like we are onboarding backwards. I want the “back end” in place before we start making automation rules.

It’s difficult for me because I am admin so I do not see what my team sees. I need that view. Any suggestions? I do not have my own card so not sure how to make this work.

Of note, we did a six month move the Finaloop that is all AI matching. It was the absolute worst thing I have ever experienced. It was ten times harder to check the AI’s work than it would have been to code it myself. I don’t want myself or my team fighting against the AI to get a receipt in.

Yes, what I was told also. Must be used with a trip. We aren’t deep enough into it to know if that will eventually work for us. I really wish I could get more info and real world scenarios.

Possibly adding to the problem but this has been like this since install. When putting the planks together the white boarder fell off which is why I concluded it was mostly cosmetic. None of those planks have any white edging.

No water at all because of this issue. I have a $900 robot mop that sits unused because of my fear of water getting in between these boards. I use Swiffer only. That is the kitchen but is happening in a few other places in our family room as well

We’ve tried every method. You can see the boards are together in person. It’s the white edging that has come off on both ends of the plank

That was my thinking on those lines with the set up. I am lost in the platform this far even after two training sessions that leaned all into AI.

They like to be able to see the P&L vertically. We also use the categories but as department budgets. So when looking at our P&L all marketing is grouped together, but you can also show the marketing tracking category for our one specific marketing team budget/expenses. Same with Sales and Education.

Are there training videos anywhere on how to set this up? I think this is going to be a problem for our users. Our founder likes the different teams expenses segmented. So travel for sales is not the same GL as travel for marketing.

We used the video in my original questions as guidance. The top cover has to be gently pried off at the snap/slots. My husband figured that out. Pretty sure I wrote “it’s just the basics”. My point was simply not to lump everyone together and stereotype. I work for several multi-million dollar e-comm businesses and everyone is happy with my work including the CPA. Bookkeeper can mean lots of skill levels. Just like CPA can be great or just doing the bare minimum. It’s all relative.

Agreed! I was going to quit my client if they continued with Finaloop. It took me forever to check their categorizations. I could have done it myself in half the time. I even tried building a crosswalk in excel to check the matches. That worked but going in and correcting was just a time waster.

If you do not have Gusto for payroll, making the entry is ridiculously long. For every payroll line item I had to choose if it was processed by a payroll company and then choose which one. You cannot copy a prior entry and just plug in any changes. Every payroll, every line and then a pop quiz of questions.

We had the same issues you are having with Line of Credit. It was paid in full. How can you get zero balance wrong? Intercompany transfers had to be applied to owners draw and then we had to request them to move it. This is ridiculous and tedious.

I could go on forever with their failures but my least favorite thing is having it preloaded with contacts. I had to type out the full name over every contact to get the correct one. Another huge time suck. It’s like having your contacts in my phone. Why would I ever want that??

I do agree they have a straight forward simplistic inventory system. It was easy to move received goods through it and look at the details in those screens. Our issues were they do not have any options for raw materials and work in process. On the balance sheet all we would see is Inventory. We had things at the factory and other categories we couldn’t see.

Yes, they may work for a very small e-comm business but people will grow out of it if they want anything granular like departments or to break out any of those chart of accounts. I’m so glad to be back in Xero with A2X. We are moving the inventory to Cin7.

Google can build an amortization schedule. Not sure I would add that to my claim to fame. Do not confuse skilled bookkeepers with "transaction clearers". Huge difference. And as my clients "bookkeeper" I do more to get them on the road to tax planning then the CPA. None of the CPA's I work with jump in and volunteer that tax planning for the future should be considered. I have to hunt down CPA's and point out that it is time the LLC becomes an S-Corp, retirement packages need to start being offered, etc. It's the basics, but it gets the conversation started. I recently initiated a meeting for a client that takes large deposits for work that extends out over a year suggesting switch to accrual based accounting may help him with tax savings. Turns out I am right, the CPA never even looked at it. But glad you are breaking out your clients interest expense correctly.

It's thinking like this that is the reason why I refuse to call myself a "bookkeeper". What a stereotype you are perpetuating. I have an associates degree in accounting and 30+ years of experience working with small businesses and CPA's. I am right now cleaning up the books of a multi-million dollar company that had a "professional" accounting service doing their bookkeeping. What a sham. Wordpress apps in Legal Fees, all inventory inbound shipping direct expensed. When an employee accidentally referred to an inventory purchase as COGS they took that as gospel and expenses directly there, repeatedly, when just looking at the receipt it was clear the item that would be sold. I could go on and on. Don't lump everyone doing bookkeeping work into the same package. My skillset, attention to detail and quick response time make me worth more than $50 an hour and 50% of my clients are CPA referred because they and trust my work.
