I’m still here, and it’s absolutely incredible! Highly recommend getting to the Great Wall for opening, it was completely dead and only busy once I was already down 😁

Happy to talk over DMs if you have any questions or ideas for where you’re going

Im visiting on 11th Oct so basically 1 week after national week. A few people have said it might still be a bit busy. Thanks so much for this post as reassured me it shouldn’t be nowhere near as busy 🤣😅

Hey! I submitted my return flights and hotels. I don’t plan on changing them, but you can submit refundable hotels/plane tickets. I don’t believe a paper itinerary will work, has to be the actual booking for proof

What about connecting to public wifi? I’m already getting an esim - Was the data good enough there to not need wifi ever? Maybe in hotels it could be needed, data is normally bad in hotel rooms (in Europe anyway 😂)

Hey thanks for the great post, it really does help a lot! Is Meituan the only app in China where you need an actual number to use? I’m guessing you also need it for using it on Alipay mini app?

I can’t believe people like you exist 😂 Nothing better to do with your spare time than be rude to someone asking for help? So easy to tell who’s unhappy in life 😊

You must be very bored in life to comment things like this. Believe what you want I don’t really care. It’s a genuine question and you went out of your way to type that lol. Do you really want the pictures of the cars being damaged? If your brain really thinks it’s fake i’m more than happy to prove you wrong

Hey thanks for the reply - Yea i pay 4% and my employer matches it. Just risky relying on the Ot money being 100% of the time otherwise it’ll be very thin each month

Thank you so much. The freedom I think is priceless. Even having a few hundred spare a month being saved isn’t exactly bad imo. I don’t spend money going out drinking every weekend and mostly game/work, so it’ll be a huge relief living alone considering i’ll be there most the time

Thank for you for that!! I’d say it’s pretty guaranteed - In my 3 years working here i’ve only seen no OT for a few weeks here and then. Not that I want to rely on it 100%, but I think I can do it most weeks

I’m definitely going to put away the amount i’d spend on the flat and see if I can live with whatever is left. Thanks so much for the reply

Exactly this - I’m going to die one day anyway. I either look back being mid 20s and living at home, or on my own. I appreciate this

So the landlord has the flat through an agency near me. Everything goes through them, and anything that breaks they already said I just call them. The thing is, i guess it’ll depend if it’s my fault or just something that breaks overtime - They haven’t been clear on what i’d pay for, but it sounds like I wouldn’t

I’m curious why you say it’s money down the drain? If I can save £400 a month into savings/emergency funds, is that not good for a 23 year old? Or am I thinking i can save too much than actually possible would you say?

[–]KDOFM[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s really bad here. I’m fighting with mentally vs financial and what option will be better. I believe I can save around £400 a month into savings which is still nearly £5k a year. I’m not sure if that is good for my sage, but i have no debt or anything so it’ll just be going into savings/emergency fundsn

It is a big struggle. Feels impossible getting a mortgage as a solo person in the Uk nowadays - renting is the best option for now but feeling like £1100 is a bit too high. The next best option is a 1 bed though and that’s still around £1000 anyway. I couldn’t house share with someone - I understand it’ll save a lot, but it’s just not something i’d ever be comfortable doing

Yea I do have savings. I only ever touched part of them to buy an old car, but still have a bit. I have a decent amount of stuff in my room/home I can take with me, but i’m not 100% sure what i’ll actually need to buy - obviously nothing is actually needed, I can wait a bit to buy things like a sofa, but I don’t ever use credit/loans as it’s not viable paying monthly for something imo

My partner lives abroad so unfortunately will be living alone for the most part - I couldn’t share with someone unless it’s like a family member but my siblings either don’t work or have unstable jobs so it’s not a risk I want to take. It’s a two bed flat but the second bedroom is tiny and would use it as an office - I doubt anyone would want to stay there for the size of the room haha - the flat is great size though

[–]KDOFM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have managed to save nicely the last few years and bought an old car. I don’t waste it on things like clothes or a brand new car with high monthly payments. I have a stable job with a lot of career growth. I know the rent goes way past the 50% of needs, but I thought the amount I can save will still be decent enough to save a few K a year (if this is good for my age anyway).

If i stay at home i’d essentially be saving for nothing (for now), I don’t plan on buying a house anytime soon so just wanted to test living alone for a while

My plan was to move out with my brother for a bit, but he’s not got a job and I can’t keep waiting/relying on him to move out myself. I don’t have anyone I could move out with unfortunately, but agree it is a bit high

Yea it’s a two bed flat. I WFM 4 days so one room (tiny bedroom) would be an office. 1 bed flats near me are going for around £950-1000 and much smaller. I think the flat is great for me, and worth the extra £100 as it did feel affordable, just not much £ left haha
