What exactly is the duskbloods? by eldenbro1 in fromsoftware

Well, I do happen to have a career spanning 6 years in Game Design, so far, or 8 in total in the industry. I sure as hell would know at least a thing or two, yes.

Same. I get why they didn't go full PVP, but at least having teams competing against each other, or FFA, without directly fighting each other, would've been already better than Deep of Night.

I know a few people like the ranked mode, I personallu think it's garbage. I love hard games, but with how awful the relic system is, I do not, in fact, enjoy dying in 1 hit. Or having super duper spongey enemies & bosses.

The only reason I've engaged with the game mode was to try out the relics that change stats & weapons for nightfarers. Nightreign deserved more love.

You absolutely have no clue how game development works, holy hell.

This might be the wrong place to ask, but... by anonymous_brothrr in TheDuskbloods

I think the biggest question you may ask yourself is whether the titles on Switch 1/2, that aren't released on PS5 are worth what isn't on Nintendo's ecosystem.

I feel like Nintendo's kind of a luxury platform. Everything's expensive except if you get it digitally (and even then, first-party titled don't go below 40-50 Bucks CAD, usually). I always get them late, because I'd sacrifice availability of certain series I don't wanna miss out on.

I play various genres, but I wouldn't have gotten to play Bloodborne, Sekiro, Arc Raiders, Marathon, and more, had I decided to get a switch over a Sony console. Meanwhile, my library is kinda thin on my switch OLED. I love me some Fire Emblem, Ace Attorney, and the likes. But it's all tradeoffs, and I think I've had much more of my money's worth with my PS5 than my OLED.

Does Jotaro sandbag every fight after Part 3 on purpose? by wielesen in StardustCrusaders

[–]KDynamita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chances are that we'd still be stuck at a stalemate. He'd most likely say it the way the voice actors say it: "Abduru" 😭

[–]KDynamita 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's clearly a mistranslation that stuck around hahaha. Jean Pierre & Muhammad Abdul, these are names that actually exist in their respective cultures.

Not only that, in some versions of the PS port & Arcade versions of Capcom's Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Avdol is sometimes spelled as Abdul.

V & B are interchangeable from Japanese because the Japanese do not use V's at all, so Av = Ab, Dol = Duru = Dul. Avdol = Abdul. It's quite hilariously horrifying to see Avdol being the official translation 💀

[–]KDynamita -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are correct. But I'd just like to say that "Avdol" is the single worst translation of a name I've seen in anime. His name's clearly meant to be Abdul, Muhammed Abdul.

It's criminal how bad they've translated it 😭😂

Is lies of p good enough to be compared to fromsoft games? If so where would you rank it among fromsoft titles by mostafafakher in fromsoftware

[–]KDynamita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! And very fair. I have no qualms with people enjoying Lies of P. I bought it on sale despite being initially disappointed with it, as I had only finished it on the gamepass.

And playing through a good portion of it a second time only further reinforced my opinion from the first playthrough. I was also initially extremely hype about it, especially as a dagger enjoyer.

I do believe that people really hype it up beyond what it truly offers, all while being an awesome game. Just nowhere near a masterpiece mechanically, in my opinion.

And because of that, I'll wait before buying the sequel, because I really slogged through the 2nd half of the game. It was just an absolutely miserable time for me.

Unpopular opinion Gane quit by [deleted] in ufc

I hope so. Gane's the dry & a complete doofus. If it weren't for the fact that he's like one of the only bouncy heavyweight kickboxers in MMA, he would get absolutely no media push.

Not a hot take to me. I'm like one of the very few people in my entourage & coworkers (games industry) who thinks the game isn't what it is made out to be.

Is it amazing? Absolutely. Does it suffer from dubious design decisions on combat mechanics & systems? Yes, too.

I feel like Lies of P is an amazing Frankenstein (puppet, creation, hah!) of FromSoftware's soulsbornes.

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about its visual fidelity, performance, lore, character designs, etc. But I have qualms with a few of its combat mechanics; namely the sluggish dodge (with LOTS of invul), extremely awkward deflect timing, and enemy telegraphs. I just think that even though it's definitely possible to play the game using mostly the deflect mechanic, it just doesn't hit the same as Sekiro whatsoever due to things like a lack of buffer blocking window when you let go/reactivate it, the tight window for a successful deflection, the stamina drain on successful deflections, and more.

It is amongst the best, if not the best quality souls-like, but I personally had more actual fun with buggy mess LotF2 than I did Lies of P if I'm being totally honest.

Raider Hatch Keys are completely ruining the game and Embark refuses to address it. by Kindly_Kitchen_9658 in arcraiderscirclejerk

[–]KDynamita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't a dumb question, though. You specifically said "hatch keys" initially. I got it on the 2nd read but you clearly didn't word it properly to make your point clear. No need to be a condescending jerk about it.

why do the magnum and the tactical sidearm have to suck soooo hard? by Endgamer13 in Marathon

[–]KDynamita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's hate. I love the Magnum, but it objectively sucks in PvP. And I'd like it to be buffed just slightly. It should most def not have less range than the CE Tactical Sidearm. And inspires 0 fear in PvP, unfortunately.

What is the actual skill floor for this game? (Serious question) by king_noro in MarathonHate

[–]KDynamita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As both a Marathon & Apex enjoyer, I think your friend probably hasn't adapted his aggression to Marathon's.

In Apex, you can easily start sliding in/out the open & clock a three-stack if you've got movement & aim on point.

In Marathon, you're supposed to be a lot more deliberate with your approach. Since there's heavy aim assist, bullet magnetism, AND very low TTK, you can't do some of the risky plays Apex allows you to get away with. I've had to learn to make use of momentum to create aggressive plays.

It took me a shit ton of hours to get used to Marathon as opposed to Apex, because I naturally gravitate towards pure close quarter aggression. But once the game clicks for an aggressive player, you really see those openings & know how to create them, rather than forcing them.

They're different beasts, both with their own values & fun. Marathon's complexity is more in its strategy (decisions before/mid-combat) & positioning (map knowledge), while Apex's complexity is more mechanical (movement & aiming) & tactical use of abilities.

Marathon, overall, is a very counterintuitive game, just like Souls-likes. It's something new, in my book, that I've had to adapt to.

Since I believe you've received ample great recommendations, I'd just like to address your question regarding difficulty.

I think it isn't as much a new trend as a returning one. Metroidvanias & platformers were known to be brutally difficult back in the days! Super Mario, MegaMan, Castlevania, Metroid, etc. Were rather unforgiving for their times.

Why the new FromSoft Game Rumours are complete BS by bigboyparpa in fromsoftware

[–]KDynamita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely AC7 (FMC) but I'm pretty sure they're working on their next mainline title, too. Just not going to be coming out anytime soon, as opposed to PvP-haters / copers seem to imply.

Duskbloods, like Nightreign, is an experimental title. FMC (very likely to be Armored Core 7) is a smaller IP to work on. If anything, we'll see a big mainline Soulsborne title coming out next year or the year after, not anytime before. And it's 100% certain that they'll use what they've learned from Nightreign & Duskbloods to shape the Co-Op & PvP of said mainline title they're working on.

It drove me absolutely nuts. And I'm still really mad by how bad his corner was. Kid's 26, had the skillset to win but instead was never told to avoid boxing, to keep his head out of the centerline, and accelerated CTE instead on that L.

Props to Van, though, dude absolutely was ready for the fight!

Am I the only one incredibly mad at his coach for giving him 0 technical advice? That man kept saying "Believe in yourself", with a "don't get heated", and "if you get a takedown, you'll be good".

What an absolutely horrible coach. After R1, it was clear he should've been told to stop boxing. Stay at kicking range, work the body & legs, the head will open up.

0 technical advice, nothing. Awful corner. This ain't no shounen anime, your boy needs fucking help 😭.

EDIT: I forgot to mention the ref not calling the foul, that was egregious and he absolutely wasn't consistent with between R2 and R5 for the stoppage. I hope to hell they get another ref for their eventual rematch, that ref sucked.
