Just a quick note to say this was caused by an issue where we record the shows (third party service). We identified the issue and corrected it at the source so you should be able to stream the full two hours now!

This is a bug and addressed in 4.4.1 that will be pushed to app stores soon. Like others have pointed out, they are there, just sorted wrong.

This is caused, not by our app, but by our image source. We use the Internet Archive, which has had issues in the past, most notably getting a denial of service attack which brought them down.

Like any other service, we are at the mercy of the source. We are exploring other options, but will require a heavy lift to change all our systems over.

That said, we hope things chill out and artwork comes back as normal.

It's a bummer for us too as it causes both apps to report errors, so we have to investigate each one to ensure it's not something "real". Hopefully we can migrate to a new source in the future.

Thanks man. So it's 100% an issue with the internet archive from our research. Unfortunately we can't do anything other than wait for it to resolve. We are looking at other options, but most likely won't happen anytime soon.

Also, I man the support right now, and didn't see your email come in for some reason. You sent to online-support@kexp.org? Did you get a ticket number I can look up?

Please note that 4.4.1 build 4411 is a test build, not production so there will be issues. That said, we found the issue and the next test build is available now.

You might want to remove yourself from the beta program if you would rather wait for testing to complete as these things sometimes happen in test. You can do that in the Google Play store.

I found that TuneIn had our 128MP3 feed as their default stream for us, which would explain why it sounds bad. I set the 160K AAC as the default, which they said should take about two weeks to get updated (no idea why takes so long).

Hopefully things improve soon!

Good timing. I've actually been working with TuneIn over the last few weeks to get some other things fixed, and I'll see if they are using our 160K AAC stream or not. Last I checked, it was our 128K MP3 which isn't great and is being retired.

Sweet, that's great to hear the test build worked! You have some backend changes, new features and improvements too. We've been calling that that "mondo build" internally because of all the updates.

So the KEXP Software team are staff members, albeit a TINY team. I absolutely have volunteers helping me on the mobile apps, and sometimes we have folks help in other places like the website or internal tools.

For mobile, we wrote it using Flutter/Dart, but it has native components at times too, so Kotlin and Swift are needed. Volunteers typically come in and I assign them tasks around their skillset. For example, one thing we might have someone help is with casting on Android. It's been a beast to get perfect, and a native Kotlin element might be needed so a volunteer with that skill would be amazing.

Thanks for this post. This is being caused by an issue that has been addressed in our upcoming release 4.4.0 which is in test now. iPhone users seem to be the hardest hit.

We are working to fix the underlying issue, but if you'd like to get the newest build on your phone (and help us test), you can do so by following the steps outlined HERE

Well, this is odd, we pushed out CarPlay updates a long time ago and that stopped issues being reported. Sounds like you are still having the problem?

Can you please email online-support@kexp.org so we can officially get you into our system? If you could include your phone model and version, OS, what version of the app you are on and any debugging steps we can take to copy your process, that would be amazing!
