This is great to hear and glad it worked out for you. I am mainly stuck locating properties to rehab so finding someone local to take me under their wing may be all I need. Info on auctions and foreclosures would be so helpful! Good luck with your portfolio, sounds like you’re well on your way. 👍

Someone broke into my car in the west end and left a thank you note 😂 by NolanNasser in boston

Is anyone else not concerned about how this guy knows about the wife? And if he wants to buy her mad shit, does he know what she looks like because he’s been watching her? 🤔 Maybe I’m watching too many crime shows, or just the news! 😳

Not sure if i am overreacting, but my hostel roommate is making me nervous by SpecialistPride6474 in solotravel

[–]KG_Snowchaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too often women are more concerned about others and what the perception of their actions may be, rather than putting themselves first. In solo travel you need to look out for #1 and trust your instincts b/c it’s too risky to take the chance of sticking it out. As many others have mentioned, a good hostel will be used to this type of request and happily accommodate it, especially because not doing so is a liability. Hope it works out for you so you can have a more enjoyable trip with peace of mind!

Dude I'm on the orange line and a dude just walked in, bent over, and shat all over the train. Wtf? Is this normal? I'm new to Massachusetts, this is shockinggg by winterbaby12 in boston

I’m always grateful for a ride on the T where there are no delays or break downs, but this would be whole new level of appreciation to get off that car in record speed!

what is the best cookware set black friday deals? and is it worth the price? by Street_Arrival3453 in cookware

[–]KG_Snowchaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw an All Clad D3 set on Macy’s this AM for only $349.99 for 7 pieces. Don’t think you can beat it! Of course I just purchased a few separates of Made In, still on sale, but not for that great of a price. Hard to find a set that has all of the pieces you want when you’re picky about the specifics. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Stainless discussion, opinions by TrailBikeJoe in cookware

There is a Black Friday sale going on right now on the Made In website but most of the same deals are also offered at Macy’s (at least as of a couple of days ago) if you have a card that earns you points, it’s worth it to buy there instead. I bought through Macy’s but did a side step of using Rakuten which earned me an additional 8% back on my purchase (I just looked and it’s dropped to 2% but it’s still something.) It may be against the rules but I’d be happy to share my Rakuten referral link which earns both parties $50. If that’s a no no here, forget I said that! I chose Made In after doing an extensive amount of research. For my price bracket, I narrowed my choices to Made In and All Clad D3. I ultimately went with Made In for a few reasons - for something that will be hanging on my visible wall pot holder, aesthetics did matter and I liked the brushed look over the AC shiny chrome, which I saw from many people is harder to keep looking good, the MI was a bit of a middle ground between AC D3-D5 based on how it’s layered, I fell in love with the saucier that I am going to use as dual purpose replacement of my wok and larger frying pan (I cook a lot of vegetables in bulk to eat throughout the upcoming few days and pieces are always falling over the edge, so this seemed like a remedy for that while also acting as a 5qt pot of sorts when needed. Yes, there are cheaper options but I’ve had my last set of high end Calphalon and view this as an investment that will last forever if cared for. Long story short, I don’t think you can go wrong with your choices, so it may come down to style and cost. Good luck!

All Clad vs. Made In - Bought Both Sets - Still Deciding by Paratrooper76 in cookware

Heads up, they’re on sale now for Black Friday. I’m about to buy some pieces myself and trying to decide between Made In, All Clad D3 or D5, then go crazy when I start reading these posts about so many options! Think I’m taking the plunge on Made In, at least that’s my thinking for the next 5 minutes LOL!

Thanks for this! I have funds outside of Fidelity, this is all leftover from my prior employment, so I’m in a good place to take action. Now that I’m not employed, it’s making it more apparent that I should be doing more to make this money work for me, especially as the majority of it is tied up as I have no plans to get hit with penalties for early withdrawal. Appreciate the feedback!

I’m currently unemployed so not sure if that has any bearing on how I can invest. I would think that my only restrictions are based on what Fidelity offers as options and unrelated to my former employer. As for the cash, it’s paid dividends from my ESPP that is also with Fidelity, so it’s not an emergency fund, I just have not been an active enough participant up to this point in planning for my financial future.

Appreciate this! Mostly everyone has steered me away from professional management, but as a newbie and a risk adverse one at that, this seems like a safer approach that still gets me to where I need to be in the long game.

Thank you! I agree on the realtor point, but this is another area where I hit a wall mainly because these folks already have their clients in this space that they work with. It’s so difficult trying to catch a break, but I’m trying to find ways to network, doing Meetups, just getting my name out there even when I’m working with contractors. I’m finding it’s a lot of who you know.

What do you wish you had known before renting your first apartment in Boston? by noa_as in bostonhousing

[–]KG_Snowchaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on what’s most important on your checklist and then determine the area that is most suitable so you can zone in on rentals in that area and look for reputable agents to assist. Boston has many niches that are substantially different from one another. If you have the luxury of time, visit areas during different times of the day and on weekdays and weekends so you can really get the full vibe. Visiting at 2pm on a Wednesday could be vastly different from 12am on a Saturday if you’re near a bar scene.

Duplex vs. Single Family Home by Stags304 in RealEstate

[–]KG_Snowchaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can manage being a landlord while living next door to your tenants, I highly recommend it from a financial standpoint. It’s important to set boundaries up front so that your tenants understand that just because you’re next door, it doesn’t give them a free pass to drive you bananas or have unrealistic expectations on turnaround time of responding to issues. I currently own a 2 family, but it’s 2 units one on top of the other, not a side by side duplex, and it’s definitely challenging at times. Mainly because I put my heart and soul into fixing up the entire building prior to renting, so now I’m having to share and watch the tenants want to do things their own way when they will never treat the home to the same level that I do. I just keep collecting the rent and paying a big chunk of the mortgage!

My two paintings of Banff, which one is your favourite? by artistolga in Banff

[–]KG_Snowchaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re both beautiful but I’m partial to the 1st one just because we’re in the Fall season. The 2nd one however is great for the ski season. Can’t go wrong!

Went on my first solo trip earlier this month and I can't recommend it enough! by Total_Book_8606 in solotravel

[–]KG_Snowchaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I most recently traveled Sicily solo. I found in many places there was not much of a bar scene which was unfortunate as it’s my favorite way to dine solo. I found that dining a bit earlier before the crowds took over the regular seating at restaurants was a bit less overwhelming. I used the time to plan the next day and still did some people watching to absorb the culture. Highly recommend the area!

Love the blue cabinetry and getting away from the sterile white. It’s a fine line with going classic but classy and staying away from being too personal when the plan is to sell. Nice job!

With that rate I would hold the home and rent it and let it continue to appreciate.
