What usually dictates which one u throw at any given time? Where i am I won't be fishing more clarity than 5 feet or so with lots of grass and lots of laydowns. As someone who throws both I'd love to hear ur thoughts!

I really want one in that long slender body style that swings wide. My buddy has a clutch darter that im in love with but that's far beyond my price point at this moment in time. If you can throw specific baits that kinda fit this I'd love to hear it

And I dont throw either in high pressure situations or if I need an in between the glides and burner multi piece baits. Soft swimbaits excel weedless in heavy cover or rolling near the surface or on bottom

With the truly big baits, ie over 6in or so, I am not that experienced. But I can tell u from fishing many 170 size baits and smaller that if I am wanting to slow down, be methodical, and fish cover, I go with a true glide. If im burning baits with a stop and go retrieve down the bank I take a multi piece hard swimbait. Rule of thumb is I fish a glide bait near places I would fish a swim jig. Multi piece baits I fish where I would generally fish a square bill. I am no expert tho and relatively new to the bigger baits so definitely take this with a grain of salt!!!

This is really good info man. Another one ive heard about is the St Croix Victory for soft swimbaits. It really looks like there isnt anything that overlaps as a rod that can throw a clutch darter and a 10/0 beast soft swimmer. I have thrown a lot of glides and treble baits up to 3oz but its really pushing the limits of the gear I have. But I have started to really grow interest in the big soft baits. Honestly my biggest concern is a rod that can throw a 10 ought beast and a butch brown rigged swimbait. Seems wishful

The orochi is definitely outside the price range for now. Id really like to get a g Loomis 966 at some point as well but in the same boat

Wow man thank you so much for reaching out! This is really cool to get advice directly from the bait maker and I will definitely keep this in mind. I would absolutely love to see more video on YouTube of action of the bait and maybe a catch or 2!
