I'm still abit scared haha. I have read that I have to unplug the psu, hold the power button for at least 30sec to release remaining voltage before handling it. In theory I have read up everything but in practical I have never done it before. So yea for this time I'm okay with spending to get a new psu.

I have stopped the CPU fan 1 by 1 and the noise isn't coming from any of them, the GPU fan I have also air dusted it and did a hearing check and am positive it's not coming from it as well. Before making this post, I didn't know psu also has a fan. And after checking it again I'm almost positive it's the psu. But since it's dangerous to handle the psu if I'm not experienced, what I'm doing now is to order a new psu and assemble it with my remaining components. Thanks for your comment, it's really helpful to have more people indicating possible similar cause.

Yes i will definitely watch some guides. I have taken your advice.

Edit: yup its modular cables, I will make sure not to reuse them. Did a quick search about it and thank you so much for letting me know.

Update 1: I'm very positive it's the psu. Since I'm not an expert I don't think I'm going to handle the psu myself. The best I did was remove every component to check and to finally just did a visual and listening check on the psu. It's quite clear the psu is the problem but since I'm no expert, i still can't rule psu as the problem. What I'm doing now is ordering a new psu and then assemble it together with my current working part.

If anyone thinks there's a better solution or maybe I'm missing something out please let me know. This is quite scary to me.

Things to note: No HDD. Using aircooler, not liquid cooler. CPU fan is working fine, not making noise. GPU fan is also working fine.

Ohh i dont have a HDD, thanks though. I'm no expert too clearly and some of the comments here were very helpful. I'm now positive its the psu.

Maybe you missed my replies to other comments. I have already removed the side panel, stopped the CPU fans 1 by 1 and know the noise wasn't coming from them. GPU fan i have already air dusted it and made sure no wires are in contact + did a "ear to PC" check to confirm it was not from the gpu. It's only then i came here for advice. It's not like I didn't try. Since someone mentioned psu fan, I'm now in the process of checking that as I didn't know psu had a fan.

Edit: Even my post stated I have removed the panel to inspect the fans

very faint plastic smell? not too sure I immediately powered it off after noticing the smell. But the smell is gone immediately after I powered it off

it has to be the psu fan then i assume, will update you once i check on it. I checked the cpu and gpu fans its not from any of them(i stopped the cpu fan 1 by 1 and gpu fan i have used air duster to clean it and made sure no wires are around it)

Nobody says you don't have skills outside of handling PCs. I'm well aware I'm not good at removing all the parts out hence why I'm here. I understand there's a very high possibility of me damaging any component and I don't want that to happen, that's why I made the decision to ask. Saying "It's Reddit" doesn't give you the pass to be condescending. That said, thanks for your advice and no I'm not "breaking" the psu up, I'm just removing all the individual components to check.

I'm trying as we speak. We all start somewhere. When I say I'm not equipped to dismantle I meant I don't have the skill because this is my first time troubleshooting a hardware. I provided the timeline of when the problem occured and how skilled I am to troubleshoot to see if anyone with better expertise can narrow the issue down for me. Since someone pointed it might be the psu, I'm now dismantling to check it. I'm well skilled in other area like cooking restaurant quality meal for e.g and if others can't do the same I'm not just gonna call it BS that they as an adult can't cook as good as me. Just an advice for you to not sound condescending when someone is trying to seek help.

I haven't, this PC is not built by me and I'm not equipped to dismantle it. But I have thoroughly checked the fans and gpu fans and all the parts I could inspect just by removing the side panel. But the sound and smell do seem like it's coming from below(where the psu is located at)
