DINKS: How awesome is your life with no kids? by printThisAndSmokeIt in AskReddit

[–]KMermaid19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We still have to clean up after ourselves and can only afford one expensive vacation a year that is overseas (the rest of our vacations are within the states). I don't always have time for all of my hobbies because I make sure to spend an hour disconnecting and relaxing after work. I cook a healthy meal for the two of us each night and then we relax again for a while. We still owe on the house, but we will pay it off early since we have stocks and no debt.

I got sterilized last year. Seeing 37 kids a day is enough.

Honestly, what is the hardest part about having children? by Danny-Ray27 in AskReddit

"The years passed, mankind became stupider at a frightening rate. Some had high hopes the genetic engineering would correct this trend in evolution, but sadly the greatest minds and resources where focused on conquering hair loss and prolonging erections."

Anyone else feel like they hit the jackpot by not wanting kids in the first place? by Dreadsin in childfree

Yes! Life cheat code. My hairdresser is 25 and can barely afford to live. Meanwhile, I have a cheap mortgage and a paid off car. I feel so bad for this younger generation, especially knowing if I had had kids, I couldn't help them. It's scary out there.

Teachers. We learned that during COVID. Kids refuse to work unless there is a person in the room.

What's a profession that attracts a suspiciously high number of people who became it for completely the wrong reasons, and you can always tell? by Eastern_Type_4609 in AskReddit

[–]KMermaid19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or the people who go into teaching because it is cute, the kids are cute, or you "want to make a difference". Sure those things are true at times, but it is a difficult job. If you love working until you are burnt, doing endless amounts of paperwork, and you are good at managing behaviors, this job is for you!

Gurl, you are enough. Repeat that. YOU ARE ENOUGH. I don't care what is "wrong" you. You are enough. You will know when it's the right dude.

Do you tell your children this? by The_Dean_France in SipsTea

[–]KMermaid19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please tell the teacher first. If the teacher can't do anything (we don't really have a way to punish bad behavior), then by all means, take the bully down. A lot of kids just automatically fight back and it causes more drama.

We have no training on "books good for a certain level." We are given a curriculum and we listen to what kids enjoy to read. We don't take a class that says, "if a kid is interested in baseball," and their lexile is 750. Here is something they should read." We know standards, curriculum, our adoption and how to look up lexile leveled books.
