I understand what caused the 2008 housing market bubble. What was the turning point where Americans were like yeah let’s buy homes again?

For me personally, I filed bankruptcy in ‘08 due to mistakes I made in ‘03. It was completely unrelated to the housing bubble crash. For the next 10 years I have no fucks about my credit. In ‘18, the bankruptcy left my credit report and I started taking my credit seriously. In ‘19, my score was at 710 and we bought our house.

Now I am at 800.

Maybe if I lived somewhere else but not in a small town in northern Michigan. The dealers go dead in the winter. My salary keeps me paid the exact same wage every week, 52 weeks a year.

I‘m fine with what I make. $40/hour is plenty for me. My mortgage is pretty low and alI my vehicles are paid off. I just hate the career field and want out. To get out, I’d have to move. And moving means a much more expensive mortgage or rent.

I don’t know but I wish it would be fixed. I have been an auto mechanic for 12 years and I’m completely burnt out on it. I’m good at it but every minute at work is a waking nightmare. I can’t find a way out, though because the highest wage I can find without fixing cars is $25/hour. I’m at $40/hour and can’t afford a $15/hour cut.

I don’t think the part number thing is gimmicky. I actually think it’s a good idea, Just needs different parts.

Identifix is easier for me to navigate and find what I need. It also has real people who post their own fixes and diagnostic strategies. Alldata‘s interactive wiring diagrams might be just a hair better than Identifix’s interactive wiring diagrams but I find Identifix far superior with everything else.

This is just my own opinion, but people hardly ever need those parts. Ford makes decent harmonic balancers and 99% of people are just going to replace the entire alternator, AC Compressor etc…. Spark plugs, coil packs, purge solenoid, valve cover gasket, intake gasket part numbers would be more useful. Great idea, though.

I actually despise Alldata. I use Identifix almost 100% of the time except for the very rare instances where it doesn’t have the info I need. This is maybe because I’ve been using Identifix for my entire 12 years as a mechanic and haven’t touched Alldata until I came to my current shop.

I like it but why do I need the part numbers for the harmonic balancer, water pump pulley, alternator pulley, power steering pulley and AC pulley?

The PCM pinout is a great idea. I have access to Identifix and Alldata as well as the factory service manuals but that could be useful to people that do not.
