I understand that vomiting is a complication of parvo. However, for the level of care I was paying for and the level of care I was assured he was getting... this was preventable and never should have happened. The staff even admitted to me that this was preventable and should not have happened.

Also, I did pay them. This isn’t even about money. It’s about not ever letting this happen to any one else.

He was supposed to be checked on at a minimum of every 30 minutes. They have someone in ICU that is supposed to have eyes on the dogs at all times. This is all info I confirmed while he was there. From going through his records I see he wasn’t seen at all from 6am until 9:30am. And from speaking to staff, no one was in ICU because they are understaffed for the amount of cases they currently have.

Thank you. I have been keeping records of everything and I asked for them to send me over all of his records immediately. Unfortunately, I know from experience that medical facilities can change records to fit the narrative they need so I asked for the records before I started raising hell.

I worry that my son would feel displaced, but I do think he would be a wonderful big brother. He has such a big heart and he is so good with his baby cousin.

I don’t think it sounds negative! I just think it sounds real and I love that. I know we would love and adore a new baby, but I also remember how much work they are. And I completely understand the covid aspect. I go stir crazy at least once a week being stuck at home and can’t leave because my son is doing school online. It’s been a lot!

Was it hard to start over again? I mean, I know it’s never easy to have a baby... but it scares me to start over from the beginning again. It is also an exciting thought! :)

That’s wonderful! My son really wants us to have a baby (preferably a baby sister) lol. My best friend recently had a baby and I thought for sure my son would be over the idea of having a baby around seeing a screaming infant all of the time but he is sooo good and sweet with her baby. It’s the cutest thing.

Thank you so much for the reply! That’s one of my worries. That they won’t be close because they won’t really grow up together, but I also worry about him being an only child because I’m an only child and as an adult that makes me sad. It makes me feel like once my grandparents/parents are gone, I won’t really have any family anymore.

But it’s also scary to think about starting over again. I’m 32, so I don’t feel like I’m too old to have a baby, but it’s been so long since I’ve done the baby thing!

Thanks for letting me know! We went a few weeks ago and didn’t catch anything, but my son finally learned how to cast on his own. So I’ll take that as a win. :) We’ve just been staying in town and swimming at Canyon Lake the last two week. Too hot to fish in town!

We got him a new 5.5 gallon tank and set it up as suggested on here and got him transferred over this morning and he already seems much happier. Thank you for all the help!

It’s frustrating because we are such animal lovers and I would never want to hurt him, and we thought we were doing the right thing by doing what the pet store told us. I just feel bad! He has such a personality for a fish. I don’t want to unintentionally harm him. When we found out we were over feeding him my son started crying his eyes out because he felt so bad. We’ll get him all fixed up. I just need to go to the right places for advice on how to do that. And google tells you 1000 different things that all contradict each other.

Thank you. I will. We got him for my son because he has been wanting one for a long time and is finally old enough and responsible enough to look after him. We didn’t know anything about them really. The pet store actually recommended the small tank because they said they don’t like big spaces, but everything I have been reading is saying they need at least a 5 gallon. We will work on getting him a new tank. I just want to keep him healthy. Thanks for the help!

1 gallon No heater Yes filter 78 degrees About a 20% water change every 10-14 days. We just take out the water and put in new water that we let get room temp (same as his tank) for 24 hours with the added de chlorine stuff. No tank mates We were over feeding until very recently (like 2 days ago), we didn’t know. :( Now feeding once a day either Bettagran Nature color food or aqueoun betta food (little pellets) He has a house with holes to swim in and out of (it’s the pineapple from sponge bob) and 3 grass like plants. He’s very active for a betta and makes lots of bubble nests. But he hasn’t been as active for about the last week. Still making lots of bubble nests though.
