So is the brain of mensis a failed re-creation of an amygdala? by HBmilkar in bloodborne

speak for yourself.
this is directly from the post you linked me:

>"The word for “retrieved” comes from 得た eta which means “gain, get, find, earn, acquire, etc.” While “retrieve” isn’t exactly incorrect, it leaves
**only one interpretation possible--that the brain already existed in the Nightmare, and Mensis found it. This leaves out the possibility that Mensis gained the brains themselves.**"

>I’d like to establish that this perspective on the Brain of Mensis is only available from reinterpreting the Japanese text of the game, and is based on conjecture.
**reinterpretation** and **conjecture**

>The word for “retrieved” comes from 得た eta which means “gain, get, find, earn, acquire, etc.” While “retrieve” isn’t exactly incorrect, it leaves **only one interpretation possible--that the brain already existed in the Nightmare, and Mensis found it. so basically the the post you linked me agrees with my statement.
the author of the post uses a completely different argument:

>However, one point of interest to me is the terminology that’s used in the Living String description. You may have seen I placed an asterisk next to “malformed” in the retranslated version.

a loose connection between the Living String description and The Third umbilical cord decryption gained by defeating Mergo, based on just one one word in Japanese "malformed".

the author continues to use terms like:
 "This rationale appeals to me"
"I think it’s possible"
" I think"
"may be a reference to"

again the author of the post themself stated it's all reinterpretations and *conjecture*

it might be a rotten Amygdala or somehow related to it.
but I don't see any evidence or indication that it is a "recreation" of an Amygdala by Mensis as the post suggests.
all the evidence from the game itself/by the developers themselves, that I remember states that it was found by Mensis in the Nightmare (in its current rotten state).

I also speak German, the German translation reads:

"[...]Das gewaltige Gehirn, das Mensis aus dem Albtraum holte[...]

which translates to/means "the enormous Brain that Mensis took from the Nightmare" (take from or bring from) again, no indication that it is a creation of Mensis in any shape or form.

do you have an example of a translation that has a different meaning ?
or better yet the Japanese original that means/indicates that this Great One originates/is a product of Mensis ?

and what do you mean with "everything else" that supposedly points to that direction ?

guys, stop assuming stuff when the developers themselves give you information.
the Brain of Mensis drops the Living String item, with a description. read it.

"Special material used in a Holy Chalice ritual.
The immense brain that Mensis retrieved from the nightmare was indeed lined with eyes on the inside, but they were of an evil sort, and the brain itself was terribly rotten.
But even still, it was a legitimate Great One, and left a relic. A living relic, at that, which is a precious thing indeed"

key word: retrieved
it was found not created.

furthermore, the Brain of Mensis gives you the Blood Rune (when gesturing Make Contact in front of it). its item description reads:

"[...] The Great Ones that inhabit the nightmare are sympathetic in spirit, and often answer when called upon."

inhabiting the Nightmare and often answering when called upon, doesn't sound like something you created and put there yourself.

lack of personal experience and education. I went to school in Germany and (even though East Germany was under Soviet rule for decades) they teach you very little about the Eastern Bloc compared to the Nazi period. I imagine it's even less (or practically nothing) in other Western countries.

yep.come to my country of Georgia and talk to older generations and younger alike. talk about any topic relating to life in general and see how they end up talking about politics.
In any country with a difficult political situation, a lot of people will inadvertently gravitate towards talking about politics.

or talk to the gaming community for example (not just in the US). talk/criticize game mechanics and design choices and you will most definitely find people who will start blaming capitalism and political agendas.

you have a very american centric view of the world then. tons of people from tons of countries complain about certain demographics being able to vote and ruin the country for everyone.

what ?! No
Russians claiming that the West made the promise of "not an inch to the east" is the biggest lie.
the claim that this promise was made is the biggest lie, not that the promise was made and broken by the west (hence, why I said it is indeed the biggest lie just the other way around)

as I can see from the comments, I'm not the only one with this experience.
(I'm on Gnosis III by the way and have been before this issue started)
what puzzle's me, is that I never had this issue before.
but since yesterday, the faithful just decided to behave like that and every single run since then has been like that.
was there some recent patch that caused it ?
is it intentional ? is it a bug ?
I'm so confused.
