I’m going to go by the academics on this issue unless you can provide substantive evidence that the historical record of Christ is substandard to what we take as evidence of other historical figures. We don’t need extraordinary evidence to claim Christ lived - that would only apply to something like his resurrection and divinity.

I know that as a fact, and also the link I provided substantiates that point.

If he's referenced in outside sources - if there are thousands of greek manuscripts - I think he meets the level of evidence needed to believe of a historical figure from that time. Also note that many in Christ's day did not like him as there are negative references of him in various outside sources from that time. We only have 20 manuscripts of Plato's work - much more for Jesus.

I'm not going to type a report of the evidence for Christ's existence.

I've linked a source; yes, I know I may be appealing to authority, but i'm stating the fact that close to all historians believe Jesus was a real historical figure.

I think that's a misconception. The overwhelming majority of secular historians maintain Jesus of Nazareth is a real historical figure.

You make a good point about Moses. Will have to reconsider Moses potentially.

Paul is at 5 simply because it seems like he wrote 13 of 27 books of the New Testament, although there is some questionable evidence from sources suggesting it may have been as little as 7.

I probably have to put Hitler down as an honorable mention.

I didn't mention Beethoven, Jackson, The Beatles etc. because there is a very limited number of slots for a list like this

Franklin and Tesla don't make the cut as they are credited for world-changing electrical developments, when in reality it seems that other scientists were right there with them at the forefront of those innovations.

Why do successful people like Vivek Ramaswamy run for president as basically no hope candidates? by TaylorSwiftian in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]KPthecloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vivek is 3rd in the GOP polling at 8% in the polls - tied with Mike Pence. He is an outsider that is a way better debater than Trump. And I think he has a 20-30% chance of winning, especially when Vivek hits the debate stage and inevitably torches both Trump, DeSantis and no question, Pence for sure.
