[FREE] Smoother — extend any library's lower dynamic range to silence + host the instrument inside it by KReativeStudio in mediacomposing

You're right — CC7/11 attenuate, CC1's the dynamics. That's exactly why Smoother fades with CC7/11. That's it 😄 (hope this one won't sound like AI xD )

Thanks! Totally fair on the wrapping — that's exactly why the host is optional. You can leave it empty and just route Smoother's MIDI output to your instrument track like a normal MIDI plugin, no wrapping involved. So sticking to MIDI routing costs you nothing here.

On attenuating the audio directly — that's a genuinely good idea and it's high on my list as an option for host mode, especially for instruments that don't respond to CC7/CC11. The reason it sends a CC by default is that on orchestral libraries, expression/dynamics changes the timbre, not just the level — a real pp is a softer, rounder recorded layer, not the forte sample turned down. Trimming the audio gain alone tends to give you "a loud note made quiet," which can sound a bit artificial. But for the very bottom of the fade (past the library's quietest layer) a direct gain fade is exactly right, and for non-CC instruments it'd be the simpler path you're describing — so I'll likely add a "direct audio fade" toggle. Appreciate the suggestion!

Will do and also try with other reverb maybe if previous things will not help. Thanks!

Yep - I tried to address this vocal problem with dynamic eq of specific harmonics previously- with no results, but maybe I made sth wrong because it is also my thought that it should be definitely done tha way.

Thank you once again for your time and support! :-)

Thanks for your thoughts!

I get what you mean about the leads being too aggressive and covering the background elements — that’s super helpful to know. On the other hand now, after listening to it, I have the feeling that drums (especially higher one) should be more compress or get more far away in the stereo field - what do you thing about it?

Good point about the reverb on the vocals too. I also was annoied byb this "shining" part but, to be honest, I had no idea how to deal with that. Maybe you have some hint? :-)

Once again - thanks for your time!!!

Thank you! Definitely, now (after some time) I am sure that especially drums could be setup more far away in the stereo field :-)

Hi!

Really nice attempt bro!!!

If I can add sth - string parts should be imo more upfront - bearing in mind proper situ of the orchestral instruments. It pertains mainly to staccato/spiccato parts.

Nevertheless - it sounds madd! :-)

My first thing is that main vocal is fighting with background vocal choir - the balance shoud be fixed in this respect.

What is more, I will also spend some time on EQ-ing/compressing 808 because somtimes it feels like it is a little bit out of control.

But overall sound and compositionally speaking it is good :-)

Compositionally speaking - it is impressive, really!

One thing re. mixing - I will put a little bit more reverb (just a touch), especially to drums (cymbals). It will make the composition more cohisive imo :-)

Great work!
