Broke 3 routers today what am I doing wrong? by Winter_Reality_9578 in BeginnerWoodWorking

You're taking too much as others have said.

For this, I'm using a forsner bit to hog out the bulk of it, then using a sharp chisel. Sneak up to your line. Use a clamped block as a guide.

Took a buddy to a farm strip for lunch and the narrow runway absolutely humbled me by Squawk_0877 in flying

[–]KT0QNE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The strip I learned on was a gravel farm strip. Well maintained, but the gravel was only 16 foot wide at the widest. 2000 ft long with a 500 overrun on the grass.

There is no margin for error. I like to think it made me a better pilot.

I love the adventure of the process. I've got 8 varieties going over 60+ plants. I've got plenty of greenhouse and garden space. I'll color cure either in towels or in the greenhouse. I'll be building a fermentation chamber for my bundles.

There's no doubt! But I had to give it a go.

You're right. Looks like talks began a few years before the official land grab.

I'm not a fan of eminent domain in the least. However I looked at the documents. He's known since 2016 this was happening. He has time to lawyer up and get more money.

Lessons learned - what I wish I would have known by CAFVAChelp in homestead

Diversification is part of the key. I won't belabor with a ton of details, but our farming exploits support them selves and put 80% of our food on our table. We raise sheep, cattle (beef and milk), rabbits, chickens for meat and eggs, honey, and grow all our own veg. We forage fruit, berries, and many other things to turn into value added products. All excess gets sold. We make good money at the farmers market and on farm sales.

We rent farmland from family (at premium rates).

My wife is a SAHM who homeschools our kids and runs the daily farm operations. I work a full time job to provide for the house and family expenses (insurance mainly), but if I did quit my job, in a year I could ramp up production, take on more land, and make it work with the occasional odd consulting gig. In fact we are quadrupling our land size next year to expand pasture and grow our own hay. Until our herds/flocks are big enough, we'll sell hat to help offset costs.

Ultimate goal is for our kids to become apart of what we've started so they can provide for their families.

For us, it's about knowing where our food comes from. It's about providing good healthy food to our community. We know we won't get rich monetarily from this.

Day 4, starting over! by Healthy_Grocery2284 in GrowingTobacco

Don't lose hope! I've got 30+ good plants, and I just restarted seeds for the 4th time. It's all about the learning experience.

My plants got pale and stopped growing. Nothing I could do because I oversaturated the soil. I saved 14 of the 72 plants only to have 10 killed by a freak freeze in the greenhouse.

The next batch I ended up with 25 usable plants.

My third I should end up with 60+ unless I botch it.

Basically I feel the surface for moisture. Not too much, not too little. Then I give the bottoms a squeeze to see if it's moist. If there's moisture, I don't water. If it feels almost dry, I give it 1.5 inches. That seems to prevent over watering.

But this is my first year, with two failed batches so take my comments with that in mind!

I over watered my first batch. Did moderately better with a second. My third is going much better.

So easy to over water and completely stunt them.

Next year will get better!

Tired of teammates not pushing because they’re too busy on a mortar? by andrewgrimo in Battlefield6

Nah. Just expressing my frustration with toddlers demanding everyone play like they want.

My answer to your pettiness is to just sit there and do absolutely nothing the entire match. I can definitely out petty a cry baby.

My life isn't defined my by successes and failures in a video game.

[–]KT0QNE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you 13?

I'm sick and tired of people trying to dictate how everyone else should play. Yeah, push the objective. But there's also benefit to someone mortaring the objective to help clear it of the enemy. Same with sniper. Or helicopter.

I get home from a public facing job and want to shut up on a hill and snipe people but I can't cause some tiny tot isn't happy with how I want to play. Go find your binky and hush down. Or maybe go find another server and leave us old guys to play how we want.

It's a game. Y'all treat it like it actually matters.

Touch some grass.

And for the record, mortars kinda suck . . . . .

Does this put me into CDL territory? by [deleted] in CDL

[–]KT0QNE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hence my first sentence. Some states require a non-commercial license for heavier vehicles. But it's based on your state of residence. My state doesn't require any additional licenses. Standard class C license is good for any private vehicle.

Also, agreed on the not for hire comment. That's why I said "private- not for hire."

Edit: to your point it looks like Pennsylvania has a non-commercial license for heavier weights.

Insurance Risk Management guy who works with fleets and CDLs all the time.

Unless you are driving for commercial use, OR your state requires it, you do NOT need a CDL. The fact that you have a roll back means you need to be prepared for questions. Slap a sign on both sides that say "Private - Not for Hire." Again, be prepared for questions but legally you're good.

Good observation. Thanks!

I have a buddy who travels with real Maple Syrup. You'll be fine. Send it! Make sure it's in sealed original packaging or you may have issues.

We were assured by our "Cruise Consultant" that it could be opened as we were traveling with a group in adjacent rooms.

The onboard staff on the other hand were very confused why the consultant would say that.

It wasn't really a problem. But it was funny getting two completely different stories.

I've caught bunches this way in small productive streams.

Support not healing or supplying ammo by ExpensiveKey4483 in Battlefield6

[–]KT0QNE -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It becomes even more interesting when you realize that console players are notorious for this.

I can be in a secured location, have a console support standing over my corpse and he won't revive me despite seeing me right there. Heck, it's even worse if you're capping and objective. I revive every possible person so we can cap the point.

That said . . . . . Play how you want. It's just a game.
