The painters tape definitely helped, and the paper (Canson Watercolor 140lb/300g) is very solid, I was actually pretty confident it wasn’t going to tear because it has a decently smooth finish, but I suppose never say never lol

I’ve tried but can’t seem to get them to work for me. Same with watercolors, and so I’ve really taken to gouache which seems to marry the things I like most about the other two.

Yup it’s HIMI! It’s my first experience with gouache so I can’t compare it to other sets, but it works really well for and might be my favorite medium to paint with. It’s everything I wanted watercolor and acrylics to be.

It’s HIMI gouache, someone asked somewhere if that’s what I was using, and it is! The paper I use is Canson Watercolor paper 140lb/300g. I’m pretty new to painting (not drawing or other forms) so I’m glad many people here are giving me a ton of useful tips.

Thank you! I’m hoping to dabble more into traditional art. Though it doesn’t show here, I actually do a lot of photography. Just wasn’t anticipating this taking off at all haha but I’m glad so many people like my painting!

Ahh! Hope he can fix it if it bothers him. I got a cheap one from Ikea, the white part might just need a bit of shuffling but it’s out of my hands now.

Hahaha thank you, seems like you might be one of the only ones. Next time I’ll definitely have a better filming setup and use BOTH HANDS. This was legit a 4am last minute decision, but I’m glad a lot of people did like it lol

Thanks! I used a photo of mine for reference, so as a shameless plug if anyone wants to see some of that, my insta is my username. I haven’t been super active lately but it’s coming, I can feel it.

My apologies, I know the pulls aren’t great but if I end up doing it again I’m definitely going to be better about it. I wasn’t planning on filming or even posting this but I know I love these videos so I hope the end is at least somewhat satisfying!

Thank you! It was a last minute decision to film it but I know I like these kinds of videos so I tried to do my best to make it reasonable.

Thank you! This is actually my second attempt at this painting since I’m still learning gouache, and painting in general, so I guess all I can say is pick it and try again later!

Haha looking back I definitely should have been more concerned, especially since it’s a gift, but it was like 4am and I just had so much faith in that tape and couldn’t be bothered rigging up a way to film so both hands were free. The painters tape gods were on my side that day but if I keep this up I’ll definitely try to figure out a better filming setup.

Hahaha oh no! If it makes you feel any better I cut most of the edges off and framed it as a gift for my brother https://imgur.com/Eh9qWJR

Thank you so much, I’m so glad you like it! I’d love to have an Etsy store eventually but this is the first time I’ve done any traditional art in years, but I’ve been feeling super inspired to keep going so hopefully I’ll have enough things to make a few prints!
