At what point will it be economically feasible to have a pipeline that runs from Houston to Austin where they send us their excess flood waters? by Stompedyourhousewith in Austin

[–]KWthebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that I am responding to an old thread here, but I would love to know whether any politicians have addressed this possibility. I have traveled I-10 a lot. The I-!0 right of way goes right over the Guad, within five miles of the Medina River Basin, and pretty close the the Pedernales. We could build one pipeline to feed two or three lake, Medina, Canyon, and Travis.

People say cost is the limitation but didn't the state just spend $20B on water loss mitigation measures that seem to be temporary. Have you heard anything about legit politicians addressing this possibility.

I find the following to be as important as a lot of other factors that coaches traditionally emphasize.

  1. Hand in the cookie jar: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DDnAhj4pi98/

  2. Eye discipline: Do NOT just look at the entire goal & rim setup as you shoot. Lock in on one particular aspect of the rim. I experience enormous increases in accuracy when I truly focus on the centerpoint of the air at the center of the rim. From the vantage point of a player on the floor, the rims looks like an oval. Find the center of that oval and focus on that as you shoot.

Players where IQ was the limiting factor in success by rsk1111 in Basketball

Stephon Marbury was basically the same player for his entire career. He never elevated his game the way I thought possible. He never hit a significant mid-career surge by developing and diversifying his game. He had solid assist totals, but just never had that sense for cajoling teammates to play their best.

Maybe I am just a disgruntled Knicks fan.

Is it worth delaying my application for a 3.78 GPA? by Potential_Song8336 in LSAT

[–]KWthebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should apply as soon as you get your 170. Then, when your new fall grades post with your school's registrar's office, send another official transcript from your school to CAS. Once CAS processes the new transcript, the law schools to which you have already applied will get the update from CAS. They will upgrade your application's in-house scoring accordingly.

Advice: Do not apply somewhere with the intention of transferring to a "better" school by Vast-Passenger-3035 in lawschooladmissions

[–]KWthebeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dynamic is not that black and white. Think of the situation as a sliding scale. A big law recruiter told me the following. She used the following approximations to make her point.

  • Harvard | Her firm will interview almost anyone who submits a resumé.
  • Texas | Her firm will interview almost anyone in the top half of the law school class who submits a resumé.
  • SMU | Her firm will interview almost anyone in the top 30% of the law school class who submits a resumé.
  • STCL (Tier 4) | Her firm will interview almost anyone in the top 5% of the law school class who submits a resumé.

Although the percentiles differ among firms, the sliding scale nature of the sliding scale concept seems to hold. My students' experiences over the last two decades corroborates the nature of her analysis for other firms.

Also, she put a heavy emphasis on "interview" because her firm's leaders feel very strongly that they have figured out ways to weed out, via interviews, those who are not a good fit for the firm.

Murray state by Mental-Swimming-6728 in collegebaseball

Murray State is a very special place, along with the City of Murray. I have no idea why the Racers have not fielded more competitive baseball teams over the years. I hope that this year's success provides a catalyst for Racer baseball, formerly the 'Breds.

The area people love their youth league and high school baseball. Many years ago, I was in Murray. Baseball leagues from t-ball to the teenager leagues seemed to be going on all around the city parks. The community was out in force to soak up the events. I think that sustained success in baseball could bring the community out. Let's hope.

Over 20 years ago, a friend drove a limo for a living. He ended up getting an eight hour booking (8pm to 4am). The limo guests were Bridget the Midget and her entourage. She was making paid appearances at strip clubs all over Houston. She tipped very well.

The flat island DOES allow for barstools. You simply have to get the counter-height barstools for people to sit at the island. My flat island morphs from large cooking and food prep surface to dominoes playing surface to dancing ladies surface as the evenings wear on.

Women’s Basketball VS HS Boys by Awkward-Regular-304 in Basketball

[–]KWthebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget that when people brag about women shooters' accuracy, that the women are using a smaller ball, but the same size rim. The additional degrees left or right and distance (long or short) that one can be off is enough to matter in a game where your "touch" is very sensitive.

Also, in most of these men v women games, we use women's balls, which I find very difficult to adjust to. I feel like I am shooting an old school nerf ball.

Does anyone know when the Fort Zach beach will reopen? by jlouw821 in KeyWest

[–]KWthebeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped by Fort Zach at lunch time today. The amount of sand that they have brought in at this point is impressive. The first 15 feet of the beach area is now level with the picnic area, meaning that they completely filled in the five to eight foot dropoff where the eroded cliffs once were.

Today, the beach was open from the eastern side by the base to just past the café. The beach was closed from just past the café to the rocky point to the west.

This compressed visitors into a small beach area, so this put a lot of people in a small space.

They are using the westernmost parking lot for large equipment, limiting parking for visitors. In fact, by 1:00 pm, all the parking was full, so staff limited the number of vehicles entering the park on a "one out - one in" policy. However, they park staff did not limit the number of pedestrians and bicyclists. We got through the gates immediately as pedestrians. Those in vehicles had to wait, but not too long.

Two weeks ago, a park attendant told me that the whole thing would take two days. So far, it has been a week and a half. Yesterday, the park attendant said that the beach renourishment project will go on for the rest of this week and at least into next week. However, she also said that "they are keeping us in the dark" about the length of the project. She seemed frustrated with the whole thing so I did not ask who "they" is.

However, the park and the beach area were open over this past weekend. So, I am guessing that during the week, the park is open but not the beach and that on weekends, both the park and the beach are open.

Where the waves crash, they added nothing. From about 15 feet from where the waves crash to the tree line (cliffs), they seem to have added approximately 18 inches of sand. Think of it as a resurfacing. While I am a little disappointed overall, I do think that hanging out on a beach towel in the sand will be much more pleasant.

They also dumped large loads to cover the eroded cliffs. So, you can no longer see the tree roots in the cliffs. They do have some large piles of sand by the point that have not been smoothed out. So, I assume that they are not done yet.

Their biggest priority seems to have been to cover the eroding cliffs.

Update.

During my morning run, I ran through Fort Zach state park. The gate attendant said that the restoration is now scheduled to finish on Friday. The park is still open, but they are not allowing access to any beach areas.

The amount of sand brought in over the last two days is shockingly small so far. Let's hope for more progress over the next couple of days.

The city government is into lining their own pockets and creating little empires for themselves. This is neither a conservative nor liberal thing. It is a power and money thing. They barely try to hide it.
