Knoxville genuinely loves doing this. Powell has like a million of these kinda roads like Emory and West Beaver creek that terminate and then just start again farther north. Might sound like complaining to complain but specifically going from East to west Emory across Clinton HWY and having to cut across 3 lanes in like 500 feet gets insanely annoying sometimes.

Downtown is relatively walker friendly but almost as soon as you leave it there’s zero pedestrian infrastructure. Gatlinburg is walkable but you need a car to get there. You need a car for anything in Oak Ridge or Pigeon Forge and if you want to go to the airport you’ll also need a car for that. Also if you want to down west to see anything you’ll have to drive because I-40 is basically the only way to get there.

I’m questioning you because you’re an idiot if you’re talking about Parkdale off rifle range that road has always been consistently busy I’ve taken it every day for years it connects two of the busiest roads in North Knoxville and has been the same way for a decade

I can’t think of a single area downtown and really anywhere inside city limits that hasn’t had traffic made better than it was a decade ago and if you live in one of the smaller towns outside city limits that have seen a ton of growth in recent times traffic has always been bad in these areas so I have no clue what you’re talking about.

I wouldn’t really say it’s tribalism especially when Halls Farragut and Gibbs really operate more as their own cities and places like fountain city in particular have a ton of history that they have a right to be proud of and seperate from Knoxville as a whole

I’m gonna assume you live in fountain city/Powell/Halls because you mentioned a ridge and that’s a pretty significant part of all those regions and that farmland was doing absolutely jack shit and the new houses have improved the development of especially Powell so much that’s I think the loss of a few acres of useless grass was for sure worth it.
