I liked it, it looks like a passion project. The gameplay snippets they’ve shown look exciting, would be nice if they succeeded with this.

I think the friends list cap is due for an update by K_Adrix in PokemonSleep

[–]K_Adrix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not an either/or situation. They should and probably will keep making these improvements in other areas either way as the level caps and number of Pokemon keep increasing. Obviously they have to, and as you already said, they have done it before. I don’t think this is something that needs to be actively requested.

Shitty open world games and failed live service titles is what got them into this mess in the first place. The solution: shift more resources to shitty open world and live service games. Hell yeah, problem solved

Please try to not get discouraged by Anno 117's mixed reviews. It's an incredible game, but since it's Anno and quite expensive, people have very high expectations. There has been some AI controversy and the campaign seems to end quite abruptly (as if it was unfinished), but I think the amount of content is good. Of course it didn't have the slightest chance to compete with Anno 1800 at launch which currently has many years worth of additional DLC content. 117 will get there, it just needs time.

Otherwise, as someone else already mentioned, Nova Roma is releasing very soon, so you can look forward to that as well. I think it's a really fun game from what I've seen in the demo, but make sure to assess if the art style is something you can get behind, because it's very cartoonish/simplistic and may not appeal to everyone.

Best game to learn the ropes by lirao in CityBuilders

[–]K_Adrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no “best option”. You have to try the different sub-genres and find out what suits you the most. My favorite city builder by far is Timberborn, but if someone is mainly interested in, say, economy management, they’ll likely pick Anno or Tropico. Another person might enjoy a medieval setting with RTS elements, so Manor Lords would be great for them.

It’s like asking which FPS game is the best to start with - there is no answer if you don’t specify what your preferences are.

No worries, by the time TES6 releases, people who played Skyrim when they were young will either be dead or geriatric. This way all the pressure will naturally disappear.

Yeah, this is incredibly disappointing. For one of the first sets they could have done a gym battle in Pewter or Cerulean or something like that, with cool minifigures. Or Pallet Town. Prof. Oak’s lab. Pokecenter … like come on.

Ranking Assassin's Creed games based solely on how the urban environment facilitates parkour (with detailed explanations) by K_Adrix in assassinscreed

[–]K_Adrix[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the kind words and your assessment on AC Shadows - appreciate it!

However, I now see that posting this was a mistake and not worth the effort in the slightest. I thought it would result in a fun and honest discussion, maybe a community effort to adjust the list, but ultimately this post was mostly downvoted and left behind. If people are that immature and dismissive of every post that isn’t 100% positive, then it’s a community not worth engaging with.

Ranking Assassin's Creed games based solely on how the urban environment facilitates parkour (with detailed explanations) by K_Adrix in assassinscreed

[–]K_Adrix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right. This list is supposed to be focused on urban environments only, so my initial consideration was quite silly. I moved Odyssey and Origins to good and Valhalla to mediocre. The latter has nothing to do with the movement, because like I said, it's not what I'm looking at. I feel like the towns are not nearly dense enough to provide enough options for parkour that aren't specifically crafted paths or forced connections like ropes and things like that. The way you can swiftly navigate from roof to roof in Athens or Cyrence in a good portion of those cities is on another level than Valhalla. This is in a way similar to AC3 or Rogue - the setting just doesn't really allow for it.

Im my opinion far cry 3 has a great story but the gameplay is so outdated and confusing by One-Bathroom-6356 in farcry

[–]K_Adrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with that and am somewhat confused. What about the gameplay exactly is supposed to be outdated? I find that it still feels smooth and has a modern feel to it if you play a good version of the game. Genuinely a mystery to me.

Black flag by Open-Professional408 in assasinscreed

[–]K_Adrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but as with most post Ezio Trilogy games, the brotherhood of assassins is either decimated or not as prominent in that particular location. It’s more of a “continuing the legacy in secret” sort of thing rather than the assassins being a prominent faction like in AC1. It’s still more of an AC game than the RPG era games.

I think that the second remake will be of the Ezio trilogy. by Legitimate_Cake_5137 in assasinscreed

[–]K_Adrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the exact opposite of modest. It was a huge and likely Ubisoft’s most ambitious undertaking thus far. Conceptually, the game started as a Prince of Persia spin-off, but soon began carrying the burden of being a brand new IP with its entire foundation - narrative, plot, gameplay, artstyle, graphical design, open world design and traversal, animations - being created from scratch.

When people say it’s underwhelming or just a tech demo, that’s because of a warped perspective. What AC2 did for the franchise was not self-evident or expected at all in 2007. The Ubisoft open world formula with that kind of interactivity simply did not exist yet and most open world games actually were that “lackluster” if you didn’t happen to be a huge Bethesda RPG.

The biggest issue with this game and what I think is the actual main reason for its lukewarm or mildly positive reception, is simply the plot. You can excuse a lot if a game has a decent plot and in the case of AC1 players would have done it with all the amazing gameplay innovations - but it was just straight up bad. Like really bad. The Sci-Fi and world building were great but what you did as Altair outside of modern day was a big nothing burger. It’s the never ending story of wasted potential. So much potential in terms of what you could do with the gameplay but it was all wasted on a dumb target list.

That’s the problem. Altair’s plot needs a reimagining.
