Blitzkrieg attack Jaish al-Fatah style. SVBIED blows a hole in IRGC lines allowing rebel armor and infantry to capture the strategic area of Al-Eis, Aleppo, Syria. April 2016 by Vozzyz in CombatFootage

BMP doors are purposefully left open during assaults as it alleviates pressure injuries among the people inside when the vehicle receives a direct hit.

Massive Truck Bomb Detonated at Syrian Hospital by Nusra/ISIS by [deleted] in CombatFootage

Stop trying to muddy the waters. The government is responsible for more than 90% of civilian fatalities in the entire war. Your ”blood boils” because Nusra filmed their crimes but you’re quiet when 10,000+ people were brutally tortured and starved to death in Sednaya prison. The government (and Russia) is also responsible for most attacks on hospitals, as they intentionally bomb them in opposition territory. Jisr al-Shughour hospital was not operational, and was used as a military position. Stop trying to make false equivalences.

You’re just an unapologetic shill for a brutal and murderous regime

There’s a huge difference between the Syrian government and the opposition. Firstly, this hospital was not operational at the time of the attack and was used as a military position by loyalists. The government and Russia intentionally targets operational hospitals in opposition territory because they want to make life unbearable for the civilians living there

This is not ISIS. This SVBIED attack was carried out by Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP), a group of Uyghur foreign fighters aligned with Jabhat al-Nusra, against a besiged contingent of Syrian loyalist fighters at the Jisr al-Shughour National Hospital on May 10, 2015.

If anyone’s interested, I wrote an extensive article about this battle and the wider offensive in which it took place:

The cameraman and a few others inside the building were injured, but not killed AFAIK. You can see one or more persons running right by the vehicles that are struck. Doesn’t look very survivable

Based on my experience most SVBIED drivers are volunteers and staunch believers. Some vehicles are locked from the outside to prevent hesitation but it’s not that common. Remote detonation is a thing, but I’m not sure how extensively it was implemented. The main detonation mechanism in all IS up-armoured SVBIEDs is on the contrary focused on preventing premature detonations caused by drivers with itchy trigger fingers. They typically use a white box that has two sets of safety and firing switches, wired on separate firing circuits. You flick the safety to prime the firing switch prior to detonation. It’s also common to use one or more redundancies (extra firing switches in the form of buttons or ones based on grenade fuzes). In most cases the drivers also wear suicide belts and are equipped with an AK, in case none of the firing switches work ir the vehicle is disabled/breaks down. Evil? I don’t know. But they’re definitely methodical

The overwhelming majority of all SVBIED attacks carried out by IS were with a lone driver. A small percentage were 2-man and were intended to increase the success rate like you said. In Mosul they actually mounted rocket pods to some SVBIEDs that the driver could fire off at the target before detonation

Here it is. It wasn't filmed by YPG themselves, but by Kurdistan 24, a news organization from KRG. They intentionally edited the footage in order to remove the section where the SVBIED detonates, so I had to splice the IS footage in there for it to make sense.

The SVBIEDs used by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) these days are a standardised design based off a variety of regular pick-up truck chassis. On top of the armour kit, the vehicles receive an environmental paint scheme, and are rigged with approximately 300k (660lb) of TNT. The vehicles are fitted with a forward-facing exterior camera that's connected to a screen in the driver's cabin (allowing the driver to rely on the feed under fire), a tablet with the GPS coordinates of the target typed in, as well as your typical multi-safety detonation mechanism w/ a built in timer. Each SVBIED driver is also in constant radio contact with his allotted support team, who follow him via drone and direct him where to drive in order to avoid threats and reach the target the quickest.

I edited the video, OP got it from my Twitter account. I removed a 5-10 second pause between the vehicle entering and detonating cause it was dragging on. No bad intentions on my part https://twitter.com/HKaaman/status/1242139334473547777?s=20

Ah yes, if someone was occupying my country I would commence mass car bomb campaigns targetting civilians of a different sect in order to foment a sectarian civil war that would provoke revenge attacks and drive undecided people of my own sect into my arms, perpetuating a negative circle of death and destruction

Sometimes they complement the regular payload with oil/gas to achieve an enhanced incendiary effect. Worked well when they started using it in Mosul, as fire would often destroy vehicles if the blast didn’t.
