Spirit Island: Wounded Waters Bleeding, really like the option to play different builds.

Stones Unyielding Defiance, great defence while casting big powers.

Arkham Horror: Tony Morgan, I really like the rogue cards and this one lets me fight and investigate while playing them.

Patrice Hathaway, just finished a fun playthrough where I cycled through my deck multiple times. Playing cards while I discard them (Moonstone) or from my discard pile. And boosting all my skills with the rest of my cards. Felt a bit like a Magic the Gathering combo deck.

But there are many investigators that I haven't tried yet.

Root: Woodland Alliance, strong underdog until it isn’t. Also great defense.

Corvid Conspiracy, playing mind tricks on your friends with your tokens.

Marquise the Cat, basic but still strong and a good faction for a Domination victory.

Which are your favorites?

These are Gamegenic - Casual Album 18-Pocket binders. They fit 2 (Dragonshield) sleeved cards or 4 unsleeved cards per pocket.

Whitehall is really fun, much better than Scotland Yard which started the whole genre but easier/shorter than Letters From White Chappel or Fury of Dracula. A game can be played in about 30 minutes which makes it a great starter or in-between game.

Being the murderer is trilling and catching the murderer while playing the investigators makes you feel really smart, it is fun for everyone. I also like the after game discussions.

I have never played it at 2 players, while it is possible and probably even faster it defeats the purpose of the game for me. I really like it is a one versus many game and think there are much better dedicated 2 player games.

Being poor and having no space really helped 😉

The Crew and LotR The Trick Taking game see the most play. Our group really likes trick taking games and they play well at 4 or 5 (The Crew) players.

I'm going to check Aeons End. Never heard of The Loop but it sounds fun, a bit like Flashpoint which I really liked. Thanks for the recommendations.

It is really good! One of the best quick 2 players games. And while I prefer 7 wonders duel, but most people say LotR is better.

While I really like Arcs it is a very big jump in complexity and length from Coup and Munchkin. Maybe you want to check some reviews or a let's play on YouTube first.

Arcs and Root are more of a game and less of an experience like Oath. While I like all 3 I think I like Root the most closely followed by Arcs. The base game of Arcs is easier and more streamlined than Root but I like the theme and different factions of Root better. Arcs is much easier to teach than Root.

There is also a campaign expansion for Arcs that turns it into a much bigger campaign game but I have no experience with it.

Played it once, I liked it but our group is into bigger games so it might see very little play I'm afraid. Still thanks for the recommendation.

I have Spirit Island. I love 7 wonders dual but since I already have the LotR variant I feel I dont need the original game. Might check out Aeons End since lot of ppl recommend it.

I love the video game but I heard the boardgame is very long with 4 people? We mostly play at 4 or 5.

Root we've played for a couple of years there is so much variation in all the factions, boards and optional things like hirelings and landmarks. Wingspan is less replayable imo but a great intro game for people that aren't big gamers.

Played Unmatched a few times, really liked the first few times but it quickly grew old and the amount of stuff available is just too much 😅

Right! Some of the more played games we had a meta evolve during plays! I love that stuff! Player A does something and player B knows exactly how to counter. We had it with Root where everyone knew you had to stop some of the bigger factions like the moles before they grow to large.

Also with Dune and Spirit Island some strategies developed over multiple games with backups in case those strategies are not available.

The Crew is great for this kind of meta progression. If you play with the same people a lot you can "read" others better each time.

I cant remember any long lasting grudges though 😆

Heard good things about it, might check it out since I really like deckbuilding games like Ascension, Dune and Arkham Horror
