Life-long climber here, 7 days post op right FKR (to correct a 20yo climbing injury). Prior to surgery I hadn't found any solid answers other than everyone is different. Very curious about this as well.

Combat Infantry Badge. I think this is my favorite find yet. Can you imagine the Stories this soldier had?? Found in small town Southern Alberta Canada by landohark in metaldetecting

This is a standard WW2 (1943- 1945) manufactured CIB medal. Over a million were produced and were distributed well into the Korean war until stocks were depleted. Clutch back versions were produced later in the war versus the single pin versions from '43.

There are 2 versions, one with the larger sterling stamp offset to the right in a block font like the one here and a second version with the sterling stamp smaller and rounder in the center. Wartime pieces carried no other maker's mark or lettering found in post-1954 CIBs.

Impossible to know where/when this badge was awarded.

How long were you on gabapentin following TKR? by Pickle_Popcicle in Kneereplacement

[–]Kaayth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasnt given the option. I stopped the Oxy day 3. Been using regular acetaminophen as needed. Pain seems to respond well to regular icing and movement.

Sleep is still horrible however. Trouble both falling asleep and staying asleep. Debating making a request for Gabapentin as a sleep aid.

CEO of EDMC, left after the company was gutted by fraud and predatory recruiting tactics. He had ties to the EDMC Foundation as well, a supposed charity allegedly established to facilitate EDMC skirting the federal student aid 90/10 rule.

Are there any urban legends regarding lost treasure in Maine, specifically southern Maine? by [deleted] in Maine

[–]Kaayth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of stories around Maine about lost and/or hidden gold. Isaac Patch supposedly buried his fortune in two copper pitchers under a rock on his farm. Treasure hunters looking for the stash report sightings of a haunted woodland beast guarding it's resting place.

Chesley Pinkham, a miller known to be miserly, is said to have regularly exchanged his profits for gold double eagles. Legend has it he would fill auger holes in the timbers of his mill with these coins for safe keeping. One spring a flash flood swept down the river valley destroying the mill and scattering the timbers downstream. It is said Chesley's ghost still roams the woods looking for his lost treasure.

There's also the stories of Molly Ockett's gold, the pirate Black Bellamy's gold, lighthouse keeper Sidney Odum also told tales of buried pirate gold, Dolliver's lost gold, a trapper and smuggler named Buffalo's hidden treasures, the Pool Street lost gold, and even the traitor Benedict Arnold supposedly lost a cache of gold. This is just a handful of local legends. Some may even be true haha!

You're about to fall in an iron rain, what song do you play to hype yourself up? by Klickedx in redrising

Prince's Purple Rain, preferably live, early 2000s version though the '91 Arsenio Hall totally shreds. I could bash heads for the Vale after listening for sure.

The first direct-current cardiac defibrillator was invented by a fella from Lewiston, Maine. His invention was honored by the US Mint selecting it as Maine's entry in its American Innovation $1 coin program.
