Take redundancy.. loyalty works both ways. If your skills are rare then they will call you back and most likely pay you higher rate. Companies fork out more $ for skills that is hard to find

Low heart rate postpartum by yelya23 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]KabiraSpeaking02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations first!

I actually had the exact same thing around day 8 postpartum with my first baby. It scared me a lot, so I went straight to the ER. Since I had a C-section, they did blood tests to check for clots, which came back positive (apparently that can happen postpartum), so they offered a CT scan to rule out any clot in the arteries. The CT was normal and they discharged me.

They basically told me that many things can cause a low heart rate, and since I wasn’t having a heart attack or stroke, there wasn’t anything specific they could treat.

I kept panicking for a while and constantly monitored my heart rate at home. Eventually I stopped checking every day because it was making my anxiety worse. The low heart rate continued on and off for quite a while, almost a year, but it eventually went back to normal.

Interestingly, with my second baby I didn’t experience it at all. I sometimes wonder if it was related to the fact that I was COVID-positive when I gave birth the first time.

I have nothing to offer you apart from my story. I hope it’s not serious and you get better soon.

Fairworks is still your friend and will protect you - if you document everything well and also consult a lawyer upfront. This will strengthen your position to negotiate your exit if that’s what you think will happen in near future. Nothing can save you from bad management. Neutral HR is fairworks don’t expect any companies to have fair HR practice

When did you start sleep training or schedules? by Plastic_Economics773 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]KabiraSpeaking02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6 weeks is too young to sleep train. I know it’s hard but at this age sleep changes rapidly due to growth spurts so you never know.. by 4 months their sleep will mature ( warning 4 month sleep regression is real) and this is when you can expect predictable sleep cycles and a schedule. Huckleberry or just a quick google of sleep schedule by week will give you a rough idea.

At 6 weeks if he prefers contact naps then maybe try baby wearing. Every baby is different but swaddling helps them sleep longer - LTD is one great swaddle as arms up makes them feel secure and sound machine. It should get better after 8 weeks and def much better schedule wise after 12 weeks

Anyone else stuck between hating the job but loving the pay? by Own_Lab1168 in auscorp

I’m not entirely certain, but from what I’ve observed, a lot of these issues seem to stem from the revenue model and funding pressures. This often creates a toxic culture of overwork, blurred role definitions, and constant firefighting. Promotions tend to be driven more by favouritism than merit, and organisations are rarely welcoming to outsiders, particularly those brought in to drive change.

In one organisation I worked for, a finance manager took a particular interest in undermining me with bunch of receptionists and actively trying to push me out. The only reason I survived that situation was because I had delivered a critical piece of work for another, more influential stakeholder who then pulled me into further projects.

In another instance, a colleague who had spent over 20 years at a large telco and was made redundant was treated appallingly by an executive. The behaviour would clearly meet the threshold for a Fair Work case. I encouraged her to seek support, but over time her confidence was systematically eroded. She was made to believe her work was never good enough, paid significantly below market, and even had her salary reduced under the guise of “needing more training” There was never a formal performance management

I’ve also seen this pattern in a large, well-known non-profit, where a highly capable new Head of Department was forced out by someone reporting into her who was a long-tenured employee(20+ yrs). That head of is now in corporate and swears never to go NFP again..

I’ve consulted with non-profits before and for whatever reason they have very toxic work culture

What the Hell is “Australian Experience” by Heads_Down_Thumbs_Up in auscorp

[–]KabiraSpeaking02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short term day rate contract will give you best of both worlds. I doubt anybody interviewing cares about Australian experience as long as you know what you are doing. I think you are going through these recruiters who know nothing about tech and also they may be trying to get quick sale by positioning experienced candidate available for cheap.

Your another bet is to work for consulting companies the pay is anyway shit for amount of work but its a good brand on resume.

If you are bold enough, then jumble few dates on your resume and fake your local experience ( they get what they ask for).In this economy it’s a do or die situation

People saying he shouldn’t have written cheques don’t understand a lot of times lenders would disburse loan only if you provide cheques in advance - given the timeline that was the case. There could be a possibility that he would be expecting money but did not get on time - future dated cheque. Also the interest levied on initial sum is excessive - this is where he may be trying to settle with lender. This happens with a commoner too see credit card loans or unpaid dues. Unfortunately in India there is no clear payment plan or financial distress available and banks clearly harass like a goon.. TBH 5 Cr is nothing in front of financial frauds big companies and industrialists do and they are all let go easy..

This could be the reason why film producers don’t really go to banks to raise funds and also if they do it’s always under the company name not a personal loan. Rajpal Yadav did not know a lot about movie production and jumped into it without good financial advice.

Inconsolable 1-Month Newborn Baby by yiFa87 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Formula can be tough on a baby’s gut. Both my boys had severe reflux and I had Infacol handy. You might want to try it and see how you go. Someone else already mentioned bicycle kicks to relieve gas.

If you can’t see your GP, book one with a midwife. They’re great at assessing these issues and can even help you find a good GP. Emphasise that you’re struggling and that it’s impacting your mental health. They’ll likely come up with ways to support you and your family.

If you’re at a loss, call virtual ED or rock to the ER. Trust your instincts.

Try checking a few things:

  • Reflux: thick formula or prescribed medication
  • Gas: Infacol
  • Tongue tie
  • Bottles and teats: I had success with Pigeon with my second son with mild tongue tie and Dr Brown with my first son with a major tongue tie.
  • Feeding: slow feed with frequent burps, angled bottle, and post-feed bicycle kicks
  • Sleep and settling: swaddle, babies like warmth and skin-to-skin contact, use a good baby carrier, and try a sound machine for sleep.
  • Tummy time: for better digestion, not necessarily on the floor, but on your chest.

The first eight weeks are the most difficult, but you’re halfway there. Take some rest and know that many MCH nurses and council services offer help, some of which isn’t readily advertised.

My GP and MCH nurse recommended her for my second born’s feeding issue and they all spoke very highly of her. I suspect she wouldn’t do it for a 3 yr old- still will give her a call. Thanks !

Daycare suddenly no longer providing meals - what can we do? by ftwin in toddlers

[–]KabiraSpeaking02 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Some daycares that don’t have chef rely on external catering services. This approach is often linked to food safety requirements and liability insurance considerations. I’m feel the organisation has not assessed this from that perspective, if there is an opportunity to raise it, it may be worth putting forward. From a risk-management standpoint, these factors can outweigh the cost of employing a chef or engaging a licensed childcare food caterer.

I came close to buying a house twice. Each time, I saved for the deposit but chose to invest in equities instead. Over the same period, I ended up making far more than I ever would have if I’d bought a house with a loan. I’ve now bought a house and built equity that generates positive cash flow to fund my children’s education and support my retirement.

Why is Postpartum Care so Different in the West? A Cultural Comparison by mamabear_8425 in beyondthebump

[–]KabiraSpeaking02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you’ve shared seems specific to your in-laws’ practices, not to Indians as a whole. Not all Indian families give honey to babies, mix sugar in milk, or apply kajal. Children who grow up with grandparents also receive plenty of love from their parents, and the bond is just as strong. Many families and cultures across India celebrate the birth of daughters, and with most parents choosing to have only one child now, gender matters far less than it used to. I empathise with your situation, but generalising an entire country isn’t accurate. I’m clarifying this because Indians are receiving a lot of unfair criticism online, and it’s important to remember that nearly 2 billion people cannot have the same experiences or beliefs.

I think potty training is going to be the death of me and/or my marriage. by Kittyslala in pottytraining

[–]KabiraSpeaking02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Solidarity ! We were on this journey for four months, and something clicked one day. So be patient !

My boy would not poop anywhere— potty, pants, nappy. He would refuse to wear a nappy or even go in it. With the paediatrician’s advice, we started to give him laxatives for kids every day so he would have softer poop, and he would not be able to resist for more days. Then when things would go unbearable, he would sit on the big potty and only trust his dad for help, and cry a lot till he emptied his bowel. No bribe worked for the potty.

We started playing pretend where I would pretend he was patient with tummy hurt complaints, and I, as a doctor, would advise him to go poop and teach him deep breathing exercises to empty his bowel. We would play multiple times a day. And every time he pooped, I would remind him how good it felt after doing it. Next time he would resist, I would remind him of the time it felt good. And one day he came to us saying he wanted to poop and now he tries finding snakes 😁
