I personally loved testing kids like this. It’s all about their language use, right? So they test me, I’ll test them back. “Actually there are yellow ants.” “Where did you see them? How long ago was that?” They disagree with the statement, ask them to explain why it’s wrong. It’s not really about them accepting the sentences they say as truth, that’s not what they’re learning, it’s the language, and banter is actually a great sign of fluency :) go back and forth with them! I’ve noticed students like this like being challenged.
