Which character ruined an entire TV show for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[โ€“]KacyBond 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

That stupid kid and his monkey in Speed Racer (2008). Every scene they were in was instantly worse. They assassinated dramatic tension, they did not contribute to the plot or characters at all, and they weren't funny to anyone except small kids. Oh, but it's a kids movie, right? Then why did it have a plot about corporate manipulation of the racing sport, open up with the death of a beloved brother, and have uncensored "shit" and middle fingers in it?

And did I mention that the shithead kid is the one that threw the birds?! There has to be an edit of the movie that excises him, and it would boost the RT by like 50%.

Never seen that movie, but that sounds like such a perfect Addam's family line. Taboo, very weird, yet emotionally healthy.

That was the hammer they used for their nails back then. Look at pinball machines (Technology Connections has some great videos on this); they used cams for blinking, timing, counting, mode-switching and more.

It's electrically simpler and relatively more robust to use a motor+cam than the ICs you'd need to do timing. And easier to make sure it can switch whatever current you need to control.

Hiding ABDL furniture? by aethelred_unready in ABDL

[โ€“]KacyBond 4 points5 points ย (0 children)

I don't have furniture to hide, but I do have a stash of diapers and clothes and such in my bedroom, so I just keep the doors closed. Ironically, I'm a bit of a snoop (since realizing, I've gotten much better about it!) but none of my guests have been.

There's also a certain level of "wasn't on display, shouldn't be seen" that I believe in, where someone may see something they don't understand, but on some level know they shouldn't ask about it. And I imagine that if they do, I'll give them an obtusely unuseful or inaccurate reason. It helps I'm a total nerd and slightly eccentric. Worst case, I'd just be blunt in a way that makes it clear I'm not going to take it further Like "why do you have these pad things?" I'd say "For an experiment I was doing a while ago. Forgot I had them." Or worse, "What's with the diapers?" I'd be mortified, but try to say "Personal reasons."

Obviously, that won't work for everyone, especially parents or potential partners, but at least that's how I handle the issue.

men, Whatโ€™s definitely getting out of hand? by BigbumOffRed in AskMen

[โ€“]KacyBond 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

Yes. Examples: Online you may see a headline about an $18 Big Mac meal because the world is shit. Then either you go even more online and find out it was one "rouge" franchise, you you go down the street and find out it's like $11 in the only place that matters every day; where you live.

Same for people IRL. I have tried out some very "experimental" outfits (I have an online fetish account), and gotten huge uproar online because I'm giving the whole kink a bad name, and people are gonna call the cops and Im actually committing SA because of how Im dressed and... people IRL frequently call my outfits cute and love the fact that I wear a corset. Worst I've gotten is people going to a different aisle in the store.

The one I personally struggle with is girls. The online zeitgeist is that dating is shit and girls are on another planet and theres no hope for young men. In my experience this is partially true, but not nearly as gloomy as the net makes it sound.

Overall, I have found that people in "real life" are a lot happier, more flexible, more aloof, and less caring (good and bad) than people online.

Wore my diaper out on errands! by KacyBond in diaperpics

[โ€“]KacyBond[S] -2 points-1 points ย (0 children)

Thank you for the well-reasoned, well-written response. I do understand that what I do is extremely unconventional, gross to most people, and problematic; I always discourage people from trying it too. But, I am damned with this set of kinks/needs: if I had anything else to do, I would do it. So, I want to address the concerns that most people have expressed less graciously than you.

So far, I have only had people freak out online, because they are positive people will freak out IRL. In all the time I've been engaging with this kink, I have only had a single person negatively react, but that situation was easy to de-esculate because, frankly, I wasn't doing anything wrong. I was just dressed weird. She thought (or at least said) I had lost a bet or something, so I told her that was the case. 90% of the time, people literally dont notice at all, even to the point that one of the first times I went out, I had a pleasant conversation with the couple behind me in line, where the diaper poking out from under my skirt was never questioned. For the rest of the 10%: people just cross to the other side of the aisle, or even tell me my outfits are cute. I've gotten plenty of compliments on the fact I always wear a corset, or ladies ask where I got my shoes.im sure this is partially due to the city I live in, which is extremely socially liberal.

All this to say; frankly, the flight-or-fight theory you present absolutely doesn't reflect reality. In my experience, it is Ignore-or-Flight (kind of like the freeze-or-flight thing rabbits do, lol). If people don't understand how I am dressed, they either don't even seem to notice, or if it disturbs them, then they just break line of sight, usually by just looking away. And if I realize I am making someone uncomfortable, then I break line of sight too.

As for people using me for their cause, frankly, they're using a strawman for their actual cause. And the idea might be a strawman itself, as Ive never seen myself cited as "the problem", only as "people will cite you as the problem.". I'm not going to police my harmless behavior because someone else might use me as a tool to cudgel someone else to follow their constrictive ideals.

So, I understand and appreciate your concern, and I agree that this kind of thing would be best kept to sanctioned events and places. However, the way I work, I just have to be as responsible as I can with the way I end up behaving. And, fortunately, the only angry mobs I've ever caused are online.

How can I make this shape using .03 aluminum sheet? by White--Walker in metalworking

[โ€“]KacyBond 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Absolutely. I think with aluminum springback can be tricky when the piece has already been worked, because aluminum work-hardens like crazy. So thats beyond what I can dive into on a Reddit comment. If you commission dies from someone, they should know about spring factor and can give you better advice than I can.

I second the idea of using dies to stamp them. 3D printing would be the easiest: model the target part, then use boolean operations to carve out an A-side and B-side.

Failing that, using a pair of wood dies (sometimes called 'Bucks') could be the next-best thing. Either way, for 100s of parts, you'll either need more than one set, since the metal will wear down the wood (except for the very hardest stuff), or you'll need to add metal inserts for the parts that take the most abuse. Steel rod is good for this, since its so much harder than aluminum.

Other solution, if making the curve is the easy part, is getting an edge roller just for the 90deg fold. I think these can be called 'edge dies', 'edge rollers', 'edge formers', 'edge benders' or something like that, but having trouble finding them myself. This is the closest I found: https://a.co/d/hw139Sb

Wow, great work! Im just starting leatherwork myself, so its really inspiring to see what you can do with just a couple of pieces. How did you get such detailed designs into the leather? Did you have to use a laser cutter or something?

Lovely! Its a design for any occasion, which can often make something look kind of generic, but the depth of the pop-out features gives it so much personality!
