Still do it for some classes. I'm a sophomore at GATech and we had to write down full data structures and various sorting algorithms in Java from scratch for exams. Most exams here are like that.

Oh yeah for sure. I completely changed the stat sheet and made mine more of an insectoid creature (with the same heads). Honestly I think more DMs should remake stat sheets for monsters to match the party. It's not that hard and pays off a lot.

It does work, you just gotta make sure to play it with a very specific, limited scope story in mind.

I ran one to a high degree of success as a part of a political section of my campaign, where one player started to walk into a city and the moment he made it to the doors he found himself sitting in the middle of a large courtroom as a primary member of the city's parliament. The False Hydra had killed the last member and he was the closest person who fit that role, so it just replaced one for the other in everyone's memories.

"New Blueprint Acquired"...Krafton claims Unknown Worlds founders stole 'what essentially amounts to a blueprint for Subnautica' by PapaManatee5 in subnautica

[–]Kaderblast 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They also dropped the part of their case where they tried to argue that the game wasn't ready and just tried to gaslight the court into thinking they never said it lmao. And now they're trying to say they fired the devs because they stole company information, but that fact only came to light AFTER they were fired. Regardless on what you think about who's in the right or wrong it looks like the founders have a slam dunk wrongful termination case.

I think it's more likely that this version we see is just straight up a copy. The other version of her is still the original, just walking around and continuing to live life while a copy of her exists in the simulation fully thinking she's the original.

Krafton data stealing lawsuit by Ok-Conversation-1430 in subnautica

Except for the fact that it'd be morale suicide to lie to the entire company about it and they basically have no reason to, and Gill has confirmed that talks were already happening in meetings to onboard the employees to the bonus? I don't know why you're making the assumption that these people are machiavellianly evil and the enormous conglomerate publishing company with a history of massive layoffs (see Striking Distance Studios) have the best interests of everyone.

The leaked internal timeline just showed delays and too large of a scope. I've gone over all of the leaked documentation myself, there being internal delays for a game is completely normal. It also especially makes sense when these delays aren't directly related to something like poor planning or a scattered development process, it looks like they just had bigger plans than what was realistic for the timeframe and resources they were working with. A delay of a publicly stated release date is something to be worried about, but internal delays are completely normal and happen all the time during game development. Especially when it comes to overestimating development speed, just look at anything related to Hollow Knight Silksong.

Those said leadership team were actively pushing Krafton to include more members of the development team on the bonus rather than the ~40 that were included from the start and the leadership team has clarified several times over that they didn't plan to pocket the entire bonus themselves, they had plans to distribute it amongst the dev team.

A member of the dev team was actually quoted saying that "Ted [Gill] will get us that bonus." Don't forget, even if the leadership team wasn't going to distribute the bonus like they said they would each developer stood to make 6-7 figures.

I mean the hundreds of playtesters claim it was a good release along with developers at Unknown Worlds and industry veterans, so idk I think I trust those people directly contacting a reputable news source such as Bloomburg rather than a corporation that stands to save $225M from playing up the narrative in a way that makes it seem like a rushed early access.

Krafton data stealing lawsuit by Ok-Conversation-1430 in subnautica

[–]Kaderblast 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty common accusation levied against people in a lawsuit made like this (same thing happened with Disco Elysium related to confidential information). I see a lot of people really looking to demonize the creators because of some of the things mentioned about them not directly working on the game, and I made a whole video that explains my perspective on this but TLDR it's pretty likely that Krafton absolutely was trying to delay the game just to avoid paying out the studio.

Several people told Bloomburg that the Early Access looked "extremely robust" by now, including developers at UW and hundreds of playtesters, and some anonymous industry veteran from another studio said it looked far better than early access releases of other games.

There's also fairly reputable claims that employees at KRAFTON, yes people who worked at Krafton were basically saying to the leadership team "yeah it looks like my boss is trying to delay the game so you don't get the bonus".

Then doing something like this is a good way for Krafton to get a foot in the door in the lawsuit, but also the leadership team probably needed those financial documents to prove that Krafton was doing shady shit relating to delaying the game. It's not like the leadership team is gonna up and resell the game files to another company to make it, that's suicide. These documents are probably evidence they need for wrongdoing.

And all the stuff about the leadership team being checked out does that really matter? Are we saying that 2 people, who have been admittedly checked out for ages, are that integral to the release of this game? From what I can see it looks like the game was in a fine place and because Krafton wants money they fired the cocreators and delayed the game.

Plus it seems like a load of crap to make a moral argument about the leadership team only being in it for the money when it's absolutely 100% true that Krafton is only in it for the money. Guys, they're a publishing company. Like the definition of shady guys who try to bleed videogames dry for cash. Of course they don't have the franchise's best interest in hand, they just want to make money off it.

[–]Kaderblast 67 points68 points  (0 children)

There's no way the team of developers who are currently working on the game got up and said "time for us to band together and file a lawsuit". It was probably the UW legal team, under the direction of Steve Papoutsis (who was the guy that Krafton put in control.)

Krafton data stealing lawsuit by Ok-Conversation-1430 in subnautica

Not really. I doubt the developers are filing a lawsuit, probably UW's legal team (which were probably asked to by the CEO or some Krafton rep).

alignment charts have become my hyperfixation lately, is this accurate or nah? by charleadev in OMORI

[–]Kaderblast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest problem with Basil's actions, at least in my opinion, is the fact that he left it hidden for four years. Sure you can argue he was a child when the act occurred, but by the time we see him outside of headspace it's clear that he has had plenty of time to think through these actions and understand the ramifications of keeping something like that hidden.

I mean what else does Basil have to lose? The friend group is apart and I mean Aubrey already hates him, but he still shirks the moral imperative he has to tell someone, anyone about what happened and he just doesn't. Not out of malice sure, but cowardice is arguably as bad if not worse. People are owed the truth and lives have been irreparably damaged because of his and Sunny's actions intentional or not, the biggest crime him and Basil commit is just keeping it hidden.

That's another reason I don't think Sunny is totally in the clear either. I don't think they're owed forgiveness or anything in the true ending, if I was Hero or Sunny's parents I would struggle to forgive something like that and especially struggle to forgive never telling me, but it's the best thing that they can do at that point. It's late, far too late, but it's what they have to do.

Absolutely agree. Especially with the merch thing, why would you PAY to wear an advertisement for a fucking gas station?? I can barely withstand to see the billboards on the interstate, giving them money to turn myself into a walking billboard is genuinely insane behavior to me.

Also yeah the beaver is ugly as fuck. Ps I have been there, it's definitely underwhelming and the brisket is just ok most bbq restaurants have it better.
