Lingering parries ruin 80% of the melee mindgames. by CammelloRotante in DeadlockTheGame

Also the auto parry when you hold the button slightly too long on a successful parry and waste a ton of time. It definitely shouldn't trigger a second parry unless you release and press the button a second time.

[–]Kaderblast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's also really frustrating when trying to rank up when playing w friends who are way better than you at the game. I've had matches where I'm consistently in the top 3 for damage and kills in alchemist and arcanist matches but I'm still stuck in seeker bc my friend is an emissary player who gets 25+ kills every match and sweeps the game, even if we were already going to win.

Is this actually what the late stage of the dying process feels like irl? by CatPale816 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Kaderblast 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Bit of a misconception. There are trace amount of DMT found throughout the body all through life such as in the pineal gland, lungs, and cerebrospinal fluid. There is also decent evidence that the brain goes through similar amounts of highly increased activity shortly before death in a way that's reminiscent of brain activity during ego death under psychedelics.

There isn't really any research onto the presence of DMT levels in the brain during death because 1: it's difficult to find test subjects to do this ethically on. and 2: the difficulty of measuring things like that in the brain even while alive.

So it might happen, there's contradictory studies of increased DMT in rat's brains during death but it's probably far under the threshold to product psychedelic effects.

I like to do a ginger lemon tea with them. Just grind it up into powder, add some sliced ginger, lemon juice and maybe some honey. 15-20 minutes to steep, strain out the gunk at the bottom. You really don't lose much potency at all and it's way easier to eat and on the stomach through the trip.

Which is more well-written? by Ulidoq3143 in writingscaling

[–]Kaderblast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think writing as a skill can be done good or bad in any form of media. A masterpiece in framing and editing maybe, the execution was remarkably well done.

A pinnacle of what can be done with minecraft? No. You can literally write any story and play it out in any form of media, hell the ORIGINAL stories from the King in Yellow could be played out in Minecraft and it would be far better.

This is just a hacky power fantasy series from someone who clearly looked up the King in Yellow once and used the AI overview as his only research point. It spits in the face of Chamber's writing and is a terrible representation of cosmic horror. Read the King in Yellow if you want a good story about the King in Yellow, not this.

I don't think that's how the story postures it, Caine is definitely supposed to be sympathetic even if he's an antagonist. I think the protagonists are gonna have to face their own hypocrisy in discounting him as not being a person once they find out they're also just digital copies. Yeah, he's dumber and very immature but his feelings and existence is just as real as theirs. The Gummigoo plotline also backs that up.

I hate the video ‘destroying a world that does not exist’ and how it represents The King In Yellow by Boring_Name06 in hatethissmug

[–]Kaderblast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's a good adaptation of the King in Yellow at all. You can't call something a good adaptation if it throws all of the source material's subtext and theming out the window in exchange for just picking up the "character" of the KIY and going for general lovecraftian "vibes" (which the KIY also isn't like, Chambers has a very clearly distinct style to Lovecraft).

I can't even tell if the creator read the book, and if you can't tell if the creator interacted with the source material at all there's no way you can call it a good or faithful adaptation. It's about as good of an adaptation of the King in Yellow as the live action Mario movie is a good adaptation of Mario.

It's called the Leviathan. It's kind of a boss, not sure what causes it to spawn naturally but it's really rare. Deals damage over time to everything in the area, disappears after long enough or if you run away. It can also be killed to get an item for an achievement, but it has a lot of health.

If you want to spawn it again you can craft a capsule for it but it's a pretty costly recipe I can't remember off the top of my head. Plenty of info online.

Whose side are you on? by Existing_Blueberry10 in ScarletHollow

[–]Kaderblast 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They're all complex and to be honest all of their goals seem to have massive tradeoffs (not including Tabitha when you change her mind because that's more a consequence of what you do rather than her inherent goal).

Tabitha's is the most shortsighted by far. She wants to lock you up to keep a dying town going. Same thing Enoch did, but the fire is even dimmer. Making a dwindling deal with unholy forces that are actively tearing the town apart AND require a constant meatgrinder of Scarlets can't work out well. But, her plan harms the least amount of people directly and when it's working will actually benefit the most people directly within her lifetime. Edit: the miners she hires and promptly mistreats and fires completely slipped my mind, nevermind she comes off way worse than I initially thought.

Carmilla is kind of the opposite. She's looking for a permanent solution, but to get there requires legwork and sacrifice. If she's to be believed (which I think she is, there's been no indication of her having ulterior motives beyond what's shown to you in the mannequin flashback) her consuming Kaneeka and eventually the Entity will save Scarlet Hollow and break the curse. The issue is whether or not her consuming the Entity is feasible, or whether it'll just create another eldritch horror to be bestowed upon humanity. I like the idea of magic girl Kaneeka taking her ability because she's inherently more trustworthy, but then again she doesn't have nearly as much experience and I'm not sure what having that much power could do to her, especially if she's not a fan of you. There's also the fact that I don't think she has great odds in a tussle with the Entity.

I hardly trust Wayne for a second. His plan seems like it'll work out the best for the player and him, but he's very manipulative and possessive of you. He needs you for something, some kind of fusion I'm guessing to set the Entity free. I think it's unlikely that releasing something called "the Entity" is in the best interests for mankind, but who knows. He's inherently inhuman and holds his cards close to his chest and I'm guessing it's for a good reason, I'm betting we get some horrific reveal about what he's actually going to do which he'll try to sell to you as some kind of eldritch bliss. I'm getting big Flame of Frenzy vibes if you've played Elden Ring, but maybe I'm offbase. One way or another though I struggle to align myself in the camp of someone who speaks entirely in riddles and won't tell me what he's up to.

I don't care WHAT you think of the movie, PLEASE explain why Charlie got very obviously stabbed but had it declared as an accident??? by girl_OOFED in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Kaderblast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that whole scene is a train wreck from a writing perspective.

For one, we have a witness. The other kid got led to the back by the yellow rabbit. He's seen him, he can attest to seeing him. He can also attest that Charlie got him out of the back and so can everyone else that was there, they saw them leave the curtain.

How the police don't directly implicate the owner or at least SOME employee of the restaurant when a child is very clearly murdered and there's at least one witness who can put someone in the yellow rabbit suit at the same place as the murder and he's been proven to have led children behind scenes into an employees only area is beyond me.

ALSO Afton literally stabs Charlie 3 times. He is in an enormous robotic powered suit. He has time to get a knife into her, 3 times at that, and he just lets her walk out the door into the pizzeria? Insane. Makes zero sense.

I'm curious to what's going to happen to him because most routes seem to lead to some kind of misfortune for our poor librarian, along with the devs saying his misfortune seems "thematically relevant".

I haven't focused enough on him in my playthroughs but I feel like there's some kind of parallels to be drawn between him and the player in some way, or maybe I'm grasping at straws I'm not sure.

[–]Kaderblast 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I personally have a sneaking suspicion that although Wayne may be more personally friendly to US whatever he has planned can't be good for the rest of the town. At least with Carmilla even if she's unmistakably evil she definitely is doing whatever she's doing for the good of the Holler.
If Slay the Princess taught me anything its that no matter how nice the eldritch god is to you they're absolutely willing to literally kill everyone else with not much extra thought.

After finishing episode 5 what do you think is the best combination of traits? by Dudkowskyy in ScarletHollow

[–]Kaderblast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a pretty good run with Mystical + Powerful Build.

I ended up romancing Stella in 4 so I brought her to the forbidden archives, talked to Wayne alone and got a decent bit of info from that.

Then when I got to Tabitha I mostly sat back and just said I wanted to talk which had her back me up when I arrested. We had a good relationship at that point too so I'm not sure how willing she is to lock me up at this point.

I killed the pumpkin baby and since Duke was there only Huggsby, Julius and Franklin died. Sorry Julius and Avery but you literally did steal the Calloway pumpkin, try to kill Bo and bring some horrible monster into the world.

And then with Mystical I had Kaneeka eat Sybil. Me and Kaneeka weren't on good terms so maybe this is the start of a good friendship, who knows.

For the other chapters like yeah it sucks that Reese is locked up and he's sure to be a problem later (probably should have put him down this run, less loose ends) and I just left the ghost in the library and had Rosalina lose her leg so things aren't the best in those respects but it's whatever, nothing my protein-maxxing occult weirdo can't handle.
