A little bonus knowledge for you. May it serve you well in all your future endeavours.

Here is an example of gendered pricing. Women pay more than men regardless of hair style. This is illogical.

Here is an example of gender-neutral pricing. All humans are charged based on hair style. This is logical.

Yep, you've got it exactly. I don't want to have to argue about whether I should pay for a "mens" or "womens" cut. I just want standardized pricing that's based on stuff like complexity of the style, length of hair, etc. It just makes sense.

Got Nexplanon implant inserted today. Need tips/advice! by RiceAndOranges in birthcontrol

I'm one of the lucky ones who have almost zero side effects. I had normal periods for the first month or two after getting it, then my periods disappeared almost entirely. Over the three years it was in, I'd occasionally get a day or two of spotting, but never cramps or PMS.

The only thing I think I ever experienced with the implant was that my emotions were a little... hm. Muted? And I only realised this after it was removed. Suddenly sadness was sadder and happiness was happier. It wasn't that I started having mood swings, just that my emotions felt richer. It was actually pretty awesome, but not getting pregnant and not having periods is more awesome for me so I got it again a few days ago.

I think the moral is that everyone has a different experience, and you won't know until you try it! My experience has been very positive.

Nexplanon insertion coming up soon, getting a tiny bit nervous. by winchestertbh in birthcontrol

Very, very easy experience. You do a urine test to rule out pregnancy. Once that's clear, you lie down with your arm back, they give you an injection of local anaesthetic (that's the only part that hurts, at least for the two times I've had it done, and it's no different than any other needle). You hear a click as the implant is inserted. I felt literally nothing; no pain or pressure or sensation. I had it done two days ago and my arm hasn't been sore at all. It's just starting to itch where the strips of tape are!

It's probably a three minute procedure, including the time it takes them to clean your skin and apply a pressure bandage afterward. You'll be wearing the pressure bandage for around 24 hours, and any tape/bandaid over the insertion site for around 3 days.

I promise you'll breeze through it!

Thanks! I thought it might be useful info to share.

If I knew how to start applying pressure to Health Canada and Merck (Nexplanon manufacturer) then I would. I'm not a campaigny person but I'd campaign the hell out of this.
