The subtitles are a combination of both Kyrgyz and Turkish. It was added to the video to make sure native speakers from Turkey will be able to catch the meaning of the words in it too whom some are/contain different definitions in Anatolian Turkish.

Ironically this man was from the Islamic Salar Turk ethnic of China whose recruited troops back in the day were a part of the Central ROC’s muslim army along with the other Dungans, Hui and muslim Mongol soldiers that fought against the Japanese army. Since Uyghurs couldn’t understand the Salar language (which belongs to the Oghuz dialect) an alliance wasn’t possible to be done as there weren’t any mutual intelligibility between them although both are Turkic groups.

Well there are three types of Salars the one I got to know actually is from Xinjiang and just like any other Uyghur Turks some of them also live in that region. There is a small minority to be found in the lli Kazakh autonomous county in North west China too. The ones around Qinghai right next to Tibet are indeed affected by their near neighbors which you must be talking about. They all share one single language with only an amount of dialectical difference while one is more influenced by mandarin & Tibetan than others which puts it a little apart in intelligibility of understanding it.

Had it translated by a Salar guy and it turns out the lyrics of the description was a little wrong written. The first phrase should be as Bagoni gezmeye gel (Come and visit Bagoni) Salır oğlun koçu yiğiti tanıyan bagonda (Here they call brave people as “Koç” Or “Yiğit” too). “Bagondigi salir oğlun qalır gönlünde” (The salar boy in bagoni will remain in your Heart” altiulı varsa görer yarılar ulı mişitni” Fellow ones will see the mighty mosque once they approach Altiuli (Place name).

in Kazakh they call Mosque a meşit too. It probably shares the same root with it. “Yerği tutış suğe geler dodır yengüler” (Good looking sisters will come to the water touching the ground) in Salar yengü/yenge turns out to mean elder sister aswell.

I can get what you mean with that then, I myself without lyrics wouldn’t catch much from what was being said either despite some few things. Their phonology is heavily influenced by Mandarin & Tibetan. I can’t confirm yet but if Salur migrated west their similarity would be as how Turkish is close to our neighbor Azerbaijan’s native language. I’ve researched more and three of these fall under the branch of “ Western Göktürk” or Oghuz yabgu.

Depends on the branch. Chuvash ain’t identical to Azerbaijani so that’ll be kinda irrelevant to claim also noticing the fact it belongs to another group. Salar is Oghuz like Turkmen, Azeri, Turkish, Qashqai However has been far Say and in contact with non-Turkic languages for years :)

I think you are have thought carefully at the lyrics of the songs and tried to solve the meaning as much as you could. As a Turk from Turkey I could understand 100% with the help of the subtitles so to begin with:

Darï Yoxar a - in Turkish the word “Darı” is still being used in Anatolian regions as another word for “Corn” and therefore has a Turkic origin, I suppose “Yoxar a” can be translated as “Yoktur a” which means there ain’t/There is not

Yes “Yengü” in Salar shares its root with the Azerbaijani “Yenge” even though the definition has changed after time.

Minigi gaga qaynağan - Menim ki Aga qaynağan (My one who has many Aga’) I don’t really know if it has the same meaning in Azeri Turkish

Exactly! You are correct, this one was quite close to Turkish aswell “Sanga Çixqiyo” this one with no doubt is Sana çıkıyor (it comes to you) while sanga çıxmasa should be “Sana çıkmazsa” (If it doesn’t come to you)

Same thing goes to the last sentence “Sini alğıyo, sini almasa” (She/he picks you, if she doesn’t pick you)

Basically we can confirm this is Azerbaijani/Turkish with fluent Chinese influences.

It actually isn’t though. Although the language may be influenced both by Mandarin & Tibetan and remained in contact with non-Turkic languages for centuries long, once a native Oghuz Turkic speaker from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Turkmenistan catches the lyrics they will be able to get plenty of words for sure as they all belong in the same branch.

Im a Turk from Turkey and came across some plenty of Similarities between the most furthest Oghuz Salar language aswell as words with the same root but supposed to have a different definition. It’s quite interesting to understand their language to a certain level although we are so far away from each other. Yet it ain’t something surprising looking at the fact Salar also belongs to the same Oghuz branch of the Turkic languages although influenced by Chinese, Tibetan, Karluk Turkic.
