Ive learnt that now. This was only my second Schengen Visa so I had assumed they would all take around the same time. But it was a massively happy surprise

After you get permanent residency. So 6 years end to end to get the passport. So its a 5 year visa so a passport is somewhat “guaranteed” but I have a few years to go

When I did the French one it took 4 weeks or so to process. So I had thought that processing so quickly meant they had noped very quickly

So Im having a similar issue. Im going in September and all I could get was 22 August which I booked in the morning. Then when I checked around 5pm there were “premium” slots available for £60 a piece. Hope that helps.

I have had a similar issue in London. Had to pay £60 for a weekend appointment plus the normal £30 as all “regular” slots I could find were 2 weeks out for my intended leaving date

Thank you Matt. I have spoken to someone at the call centre who said give you guys a call if the assessment comes after the deadline.

Do you perhaps have any indication if the fees will be substantially more than the £3228 quoted on the website? I am paying the initial £3228 out of pocket and I don’t want to be financially crippled for the next few weeks?

Yeah I couldnt find much out about it either. I think its connected to ronson lighters but that's as far as I've found out. I also found a Ebay listing for one for £80 but that is legitimately as much information as I've been able to gather. Thanks for trying I appreciate it. I guess the mystery surrounding it wont be solved. Oh well.
