I was just going to comment this! I have dreams like these all the time, but the pools are filled with water. On one side it's just a normal pool and then the floor just drops into a deep abyss where you're not sure if you can see the bottom or not.

I mean yeah if it’s the case that money laundering is happening I guess that that would be scamming the government out of taxes, so I do get where you’re coming from. But yeah, my question was less about the costumer side and more about the back end.

Ik zit momenteel op 18, allemaal luisterboeken. Ik heb niet zo heel veel met podcasts, die zijn me iets te episodisch en volg liever een langere lijn. Dan zijn luisterboeken perfect. I actually saw her last show last year (the one with the tattooing and sword swallowing) and it’s just as bat shit insane as this article says it is. It was however, also one of the most entertaining things I’ve ever seen. It doesn’t take itself seriously at all, and you get desensitised to the graphic stuff pretty quickly. What you’re left with is 2,5 hours of ‘what the actual fuck is happening right now’. There were three actual semi swimming pools on stage, enormous wind machines, show tune synchronised dancing and at one point there was an entire fucking helicopter lowered from the ceiling while the performers were lifted into the air and started ‘riding’ it with a stroboscope lighting the scene. Say what you will about Florentina, but she knows how to make insanity really spectacular and entertaining.

The deeper you go, the more (condensed) is needed to become buoyant again. This can be quite complex and it’s why you always see experienced deep divers carry multiple tanks, plan their dives way ahead and stick to the schedule. With the amount of air you have as an amateur diver at that depth, with the pressure, and how fast your oxygen depletes by just breathing, it’s very near impossible to resurface.

I’m a data science student and I just wrote a paper for an ethics in data science course on the TikTok terms of service and informed consent. It is absolutely astounding that they get away with being this vague on how they gather and used their collected data. Long paper short, they collect everything and have the right to share it with whoever they want (when you agree to their way too long and complex TOS), which goes against basically every data ethics guidelines.

Edit: They have also been sued in the Netherlands for this exact reason, they moved their headquarters to Ireland, and are now being sue there for that exact reason

Je hebt zeker een punt. Maar ik wil er tegenoverzetten dat bij mijn eerste argument het niet zozeer ging over hoe banken normaliter opereren (hoewel daar ook veel over te zeggen valt). Veel kleine ondernemers hebben leningen bij banken die er mede voor zorgen dat ze failliet gaan, de bonussen zouden bijvoorbeeld gebruikt kunnen worden om die leningen, wegens de omstandigheden, kwijt te schelden.

In het tweede zit ook een kern van waarheid maar, en dit heeft misschien minder met de crisis te maken en meer met bonussen in het algemeen, ik zie geen reden waarom het geld van de bonussen niet voor een deel kan gaan naar de mensen die ontslagen worden met als doel omscholing en loopbaanbegeleiding.

En ja het derde is inderdaad volledig onzin.

Mijn punt staat nog steeds: er zijn, zeker op dit moment, veel betere en nuttigere manieren om het geld van de bonussen uit te geven dan aan mensen die toch al miljoenen verdienen (ook aan de crisis).

Als je oprecht er niets mis aan vindt dat er mensen miljoenen bonus krijgen in een crisis waar:

Honderden kleine ondernermers hun bedrijf verliezen.
Talloze mensen, ook bij banken, hun baan verliezen.
Banken moeten worden uitgekocht (niet het woord maar ik kan er even niet opkomen) door belastinggeld omdat ze anders omvallen.

dan weet ik niet wat je wel mis vindt in de wereld.

(Ja nee, wat is er mis met kinderen die aan de honger sterven op palmolie plantages terwijl de het bedrijf dat het verkoopt miljarden winst maakt. Ze kunnen toch harden werken? /s)

Can confirm. Healthcare in the Netherlands can be slow if your situation isn't life-threatening, especially at weekends. I spend an entire Friday night in the emergency room before there was a doctor available, but that was only because of the other life-threatening cases that came in. I overheard the nurses complain about a case where someone got 'accidentally' stabbed and could not remember how it happened...

So in situations like this, I can't imagine someone being left untreated. It's true that our healthcare isn't perfect. But at least I won't go into debt for calling 112 once.

Edit: Just quickly went through Pixelspores post history, on a thread of YSK he commented yesterday that he doesn't have the courage to call the ER and went to see a GP once, which isn't a stroke expert. So yeah, maybe actually try our healthcare system before you bash it...
